I never did introduce myself did I…let’s see, long story short…had the muscle car (442) which I purchased off my dad. Was fun, but Montreal’s winter salt took too much out of her. Let her go, and looked for a Cruiser. Not many up here, so about 20 years ago I settled on a ’79 CJ7 Golden Eagle. It was a nice rig, but just not right for me, so a couple of years later let than one go as well. Fell in love, got married, started our family, and for the past 15 years put family first. Finally a couple of years ago we decided as a family to start looking for a cruiser, and most looked really bad, or just too expensive…I have fond memories of my daughter complaining of the spiders more than the lack of floors! About a year ago now we came across the blue ’64 just a couple of hours away, and now she is all mine and my daughter's, papers, paid and everything, but unfortunately resting in a barn while we finish some major house renovations. Plan is to start restoring it this fall with my daughter, and to keep her stock, with the exceptions being a few safety items like roll bar, 3-point seatbelts, and so on.
I always liked the 25, but never seen one ‘live’, and did not expect to find one for some time, until Jim (nerd) pointed me to this ’59 titled ’61, again just a couple hours away. Got talking with the current owner, and turns out he’s a real nice guy. While the 25 has had a lot of 40 parts integrated into the 25, the guy actually kept the 25 windshield frame, tranny, axels, and a few other ‘25’ parts…but the fame is, well, pretty bad.
So, spoke with my wife, and the only way I could get the 25 was if I basically used the money I had put a side for the 40 restoration, which I agreed made sense…and now I am expecting to have both cruisers here with-in the next month or so.
Sorry if I never introduced myself, but been reading on and off for a while, and when I jumped in I just forgot. I am still very interested in your frame, and possibly floor of your tub, so we’ll see what gives when Jim makes it up your way…by which time I should have a complete list of what I’ll need.
I enjoy the 25 section, and I am sorry if I discuss the 40 here as well, but you guys have been loads of help with all the stuff you have already posted, and figured you’d know my FJ sickness best.
Later,
Dean
