Well, here's my dealership experience....
I take my vehicles there for oil and lube. They do a good job for a reasonable price, AND they are the only ones who keep a computer record of what my FJ40 has in it (1971 with SBC and a '79 4-speed/transfer). The local gypy lube gave me a deer in the headlights look when I tried to explain it. They stock filters for all common vehicles.
So far so good.
One day, though, they asked if I needed any maintc on it. I said well, since it's on the rack, adjust the parking brake.
The mechanic later said they didn't adjust it. They didn't know how and had no repair manual for it.
When the monsoons stopped a few days later I crawled underneath and gave the adjuster a quarter turn.
