The 80 and 100 were available with dealer-installed TRD S/C. I'm surprised my search of this forum didn't hit on "supercharge". Any rumors on this? There are two FJs available locally with all the right options, won't be for long, I'm thinking hard on this.

I haven't seen anything on this either; the FJC is too new as yet, but I'm sure someone will adapt the fourrunner TRD unit for the FJC.

...

TRD is testing three FJCs that are fitted with superchargers. This is probably going to be optional on 'normal' FJCs, standard on the skunkworks edition they're coming out with, and available as a kit through your local Toyota parts counter.

They haven't been able to come out with a TRD S/C for the 4.0 which has been widely available in the 4r for 3 years and the Taco for over a year. Rumor when the 4r first came out was that a TRD S/C would soon follow, it never happened. Would be a nice option. I would be surprised if it were available "standard" as I am not aware of a TRD S/C which has come installed from the factory.

How do you get your information on these superchargers? Is there a time frame on development?

I live down the street from Calty and the Toyota campus is local. Plus I know people who either know people or know stuff (i've been involved in the automotive industry for awhile. When I was developing a race car replica, I had to do all kinds of stuff with Toyota people).

So I listen to them, and they send me interesting emails, sometimes videos and documents to read. It doesn't hurt that I lived across the street from the Road & Track offices, either...

Frankly it doesn't need a SC. The MT 6 is quite quick. 0-30 in first will snap your neck. It will go 58 in second.

The power is impressive. :) in 20mph "roll ons" it is faster than the souped up Xterra.

Very fun to drive on the street.
