Dealer Disappointment (mini-rant on maintenance)

To be honest major repairs (and lack of qualified people to perform them) is the reason I’m somewhat considering (although I probably won’t) getting rid of my 200. I’ve done all My PM for the last 6 years, since it was out of warranty that is. But 11 years old and 120k miles if something major goes I’d be stuck….

Possibly it is because I’m sort of dreading doing the radiator, water pump, idler,…. Which I’m capable of and should be done soon’ish, Dealer service manager acted like I was crazy for wanting to do it and wanted $8k.

Never tried the dealer for either of my Land Cruisers - I am blessed that in Houston I have two fantastic Indy mechanics, Javier and Duc.
I know Javier but who is Duc? Javier is a decent drive for me to get to. I go to Downtown Auto in Montrose area, the owner of the shop has a 90's LC and loves working on my FJ60.

I’m in the same situation. 200s are extremely rare here in southern Michigan and as I get older it’s harder to do the heavy stuff. If I can’t find a good place for service in the next couple years, I may have to move on. :(
