I'm planning on transplanting some surf parts to upgrade my Hliux. I wanted to grab the RHD IFS power steering box (for histeer). The injector pump to transplant the mechanical boost compensator if I can find a 2L-TII. Turbo, manifold, & accessories. plus a 4x4 Bellhousing that attaches the L engine to R151/R150. Plus I wouldn't mind grabbing oem alloy wheels and the front seats as they offer better support than the Hilux.

Originally, I was looking to purchase the parts individually but pricing things out I could import a low mileage surf from Japan for the same cost. So I'm looking for someone in the USA or nearby in Canada that has a dying surf they want to part out or sell. I heard there is a graveyard of these vehicles around because of head issues. However, I was having a bit of trouble tracking down parts since most people don't seem to list them when once they are blown or on the way out. I'm in Pennsylvania but can travel. Preference would be for a 1991-92, 2L-TII, with manual transmission.

I'm afraid those OEM wheels in the photo wouldn't fit your 106, unless you run some sort of spacers, since they were made for IFS trucks. You would need the ones that came on the 70 series LC that have -20mm offset though.

I'll clear up a few things for you:

1991 and 1992 Surf JDM imports had the 2LT-E engines, not the 2LT-II - though they are much the same mechanically. If you can find one, the 1989-early 1990 had the 2LT-II with the non-E pumps.

There is no "graveyard" of these vehicles. There is the odd one in wrecking yards, but not a fabled graveyard where these things go to die... you could try Malahat Auto Parts in Victoria/Malahat, BC (google it), or Mustang Connection.

There were not that many 5 speeds imported as grey market units from Japan, it would seem, but there are a few out there. The 5 speeds had somewhat fewer issues with heads than the autos (less heat), so don't get your hopes up finding one.

And, beware of the 2LT-II and 2LT-E engines; there are so many other far better options to be had that produce more power, use less fuel, and have better reliability.

I bought a Hilux Surf that I'll be parting out. It's a 1990 with 180,000kms. Has the 2LT-II (mechanical injection) and R150F transmission. All I'm after is the short block to put into my LJ78. I'll be selling everything else. Sounds like I have everything you need, but I don't know if shipping is practical.

Issues that the truck has for sure are a dead alternator and a dying dual mass flywheel. Seems to burn a bit of oil on startup, so I'm guessing it has leaky valve seals, as the compression seems very good.

I put pictures here in my local club classifieds: VI Buy/Sell/Trade

I'll be pulling it apart in the next month or so.

Great. Yes the shipping might be a killer for the big items. I just went with a DTS turbo kit since it came brand new and shipped for under $1700. I would still be interested in the boost comp/actuator & bell housing when you do part it out. I'm not sure how long the current G52 transmission will hold up. I have a North America Turbo R151 tailhousing and 23 spline input sitting around so hopefully with the diesel bell housing I can get a stronger R150/R151 transmission in between it all and keep the forward shift gear driven transfer case.

OK, I'll let you know how it all works out. If those parts come up for sale separately, I'll definitely let you know.

Thanks, Understood. It is kind of tough because someone probably wants the whole pump or entire transmission. So don't want to get stuck with half a part.
