ok tracy

pick a date and make it official. Youre not taking us on a porsche trail are you ?

Porsche corporate really did adopt that trail (and graded it and put a bridge over the creek crossing) so Cayenne owners could get that off road rush and not spill their latte.

Can I bring the Prius?

Bring it on Bob

you did such a great job spotting me over the years in my 55, I would be more than happy to return the favor to you driving the prius.

FYVM, so what's a radiator between friends?

I could probably bring the whole family on this. Name a date so we can plan on it....

trail closed

Any thoughts on a back up trail ? I think Tracy said this trail closes at the end of Jan.

Correct. I called the Ranger office today and confirmed that the Peters Mill and Tasker's Gap trails are closed and are not expected to re-open until mid-to-late March, weather dependent.

I suggest we go to GWNF west of Harrisonburg, VA. It is somewhat longer of a drive to get there (perhaps another 45 minutes, one way), but the panoramic views are worthwhile.

If you want to figure mileage, use your favorite map website to identify the Ottobine Country Store at the intersection of VA 613 and VA 257, southwest of Harrisonburg.

The trailhead to Waggy's Creek Road is about 2 miles away. The trail goes about 15 miles and comes out on the VA/WV line at vicinity VA 924/Briery Branch Road (not far from Reddish Knob).

Trail time is 3-5 hours, depending on how many hilltop breaks we take, and trail photos for the few obstacles that exist. Plus, there are some neat structures, probably built by the CCC back in the 1930's.

the 26th

I am good with the 26th and with driving further to get to the trail.

Sweet! 2.26 I'll have to meet you guys at the store since I will be coming out of Richmond that AM. Anyone know whether there is fuel at that store? I'll have some cans with me but would want to fill up just before getting on trail.

Yes they have gasoline, diesel, and propane.:hillbilly:

February 26th

UPDATE to the lead thread, see #1

:o :whoops:

I know this weekend (SAT 26 FEB) coincides with the "usual" planned CLCC month-end breakfast--and that is often in the beltway area.

I'm going to start a "Breakfast 2/26" thread so we can talk whether we want to do the "usual" breakfast before going to GWNF, or if we want to make breakfast somewhere enroute to the trail.

reminder

Just brining this back up to the top because i forget stuff.
