Any one interested in doing a day trip from DC, VA MD on New Year's Weekend? I am thinking either Saturday or Monday. I have to be at home on Sunday (Can't Miss NFL :D). Any place is good for me, Rusch Creek would be great, as I had never been there before but I don't if they are open. GWNF is also fine. Please chime in if you are interested.

Thanks :D

Riad,
I'm interested. Also, i think there is a mud member from florida that had said he was coming up sometime. Anywhere in the area is fine by me.

Let's do it man! Pick a place. I'm gonna call Larry (SASed 4Runner) to see if he wants to join in.

I might be interested but I dont know what is going on this coming weekend.

Brandon, your switch is in the mail.

Riad,

I really have no preference on a place and im sure since its the beginning of the week that we will get a decent amount of people with suggestions, hopefully. Also, for what its worthi think most people would be interested in something other then GWNF at harrisonburg only cause we've been a few times lately.
I'm free all friday so that would work for me.

Thanks tony, i'll keep my eyes out.

There might be a group of folks headed to Rausch Creek on the 1st. Mostly Rovers but a fun crowd nevertheless. I'll keep you posted as I get details if anyone is interested.

Curran,
definitely keep us posted man! I am interested, I hope others would be too. 1st sounds good to me :) . I would love to hit it early too.

Brandon, I am free until Tuesday next week starting from Friday after 12:00 PM. I suggest let's do RC with the rover guys. If we can gather up enough people I am sure we can do it early this weekend. I thought I'd just through the idea up in air.

Here's the link to RC for those who are interested.

Edit: Brandon, I just re-read your post, does that mean you are not free on weekends and or the 1st?

Not to get off topic... Has anyone wheeled at Big Dogs near Winchester?

Their website states that it is not recommended for "full size vehicles." I'm wondering if they consider the 80 series full size or if they are refering to Hummers and Full size PUs.

They are right. Big Dogs are only for the Heeps and buggies. I haven't wheeled there but I have seen their videos. I also know at least two guys who are heavily involved in all BD events. Trails are pretty tight and even an Xterra would be (almost) considered as full size truck. But again, 80 could make up on any thing, with a lots of body damages on those trails I'd assume. I am curious though, are you going there?

I might be interested in tagging along on this trip.
Depending on how many people show up, I can guide a group if there are too many people for a single group.

The trails there are pretty tight, especially the lower numbered trails (1-5). I don't think an 80 could do them without a little damage from trees. The middle trails (6-9 maybe) are a little more open. A 4Runner fits down them just fine, so an 80 could fit with some careful driving. The highest trails are even more open, but they are also the most difficult, so an 80 could wheel them if it was pretty built.

I've only been to one Big Dogs event, but it was awesome. I'm planning to hit some more this year.

I don't have any plans to go in the near future. I was curious because I don't recall it ever being mentioned in this forum, especially since it is kind of near you guys from NoVa. A local 4 wheeling group goes up there every so often, I might try to get up their with them the next time they go.

As mentioned, an 80 maybe too big for the trails there. But if you have a 40 you might be just fine. Let us know what you think of the trails, whether they are too tight for an 80 or not.

The trails I've been on at Gore (BD events) have been really tight. I was on 6, 7, and maybe 8 and they were tight in a 40. As I recall, Ryan mashed up his 4Runner on 6 because the trail was so tight. A good time was had by all!

Might be interested in getting out soon if I can get over this cold.

I'm thinking about the Rausch trip...

Still haven't gotten the extended shackles on the rear though.

I`m in for Rauch Creek on the first. What time are you meeting.

Earlier is better. we can pick a spot on 81 and meet there or we can meet at RC. The goal is to be at RC on no later than 9:00 AM. I say 8:30 is even better. I am still waiting to hear from Curran. He said he is waiting to hear from his Rover Buddy. It looks like we have enough people and we can go on our own if we wanted to, and in case Curran doesn't get back to us or me. I will leave that upto you all. Nothing against Rover people, don't get me wrong, I'm just trying to have a contingency plan in case we have to :D. We might see those guys anyway at RC. So that's the plan, please feel free to advise with better ideas.

EDIT: If we want to go on our own, we may have to make reservation. In their website it says "Holiday - open by reservation". So let me know what do you guys want to do. I'm going to vall them and find out more about this.

OK, Just made reservation. We have to be there between 8 to 10. I told them that we might be with the Rover guys (who already reserved the place for the 1st) but in case we don't hear from them, we might go on our own. They said that's fine. So there guys :D . I am lodaded, truck's ready :D . Let's DO IT!!
