is that not going to earn a ticket or two for you? how could a driver see over/around it?

Does the screen get in the path of the airbag as it explodes/expands? Wouldn't want a sceen-in-your-face.

i see over it fine? theres no blind spot i sit hight up and i can glance right over it so unless theres something on my hood im good

I got a carputer in mines too... It's a 7" touchscreen I replace the radio with. I can run gps, dvd's, burn cd-rw's, mp3's, radio, videos, internet thru wifi or cell phone, play Windows Media Edition recorded TV, and check my car OBD-2 info.

lx450landcruiser - what type of PC are u running. Does the display get washed out in the sunlight?

LX_treme - how many mirrors do you need to backup with!! =P

Here's a link from a few years back (sorry pics gone) it contains a lot of details on how to do it yourself and $$$$. The unit was wonderful looking for home made.

This is from memory so don't shoot me.

Screen $170
pc board $99 - $129
memory = $50
hd = $80
bondo = $40

Hours of reading.

The pics on the link do not work anymore

GREddy ,
Where are u located? I'd like to see that if you're in the Southern California Area. Are u running your audio off external amps, how does that work? I love the setup especially the cd drive. Very clean

The actual PC is a IBM T23 (spare laptop), connected to that is a 7" touchscreen monitor (~$300) that I flush mount into the dash. Purchased the usb FM radio (~$20), GPS ($50), DVD-CD-rw ($90), OBD-2 scanner ($120), PCMCIA usb 2.0 card ($20). The audio out for the laptop goes to a 4 channel amp in left rear panel. This feeds all the speakers in the truck. I have a remote power switch to turn on the laptop from the dash.

LX450,

What screen is that you are using. I would imagine it is a touch screen? I have been thinking about doing that setup with the laptop under the seat but my laptop mount is working fine for now.
