This thread may get off to a slow start but I will try & keep it interesting. Just purchased a GX 470, 2006, 160,000 miles. It’s a little beat up but that’s fine, it’s going to see a lot of abuse.

Just as a background. I have only had one other Toyota. 2001 4runner. It was a nice rig, I should have kept it. Way under powered & the seat was hell on my back. In retrospect I should have just re-geared it & put aftermarket seats in it.

I already have what I would call my hard core adventure rig “8low”. This Lexus IS going to be a daily driver/ National Park rig. 8low is a beast, I have built it to go down the road as well as tackling really tough trails. It’s downfall is I won’t drive it in snow, I don’t want it to rust out. It’s a bit of a gas hog too. Besides I hate pavement pounding unless I’m going somewhere that requires Tons & 40’s.

Props to Iton man for the fastest bumper shipping ever. Also props to the guy who packed the thing. I’d of charged what the bumper cost just to take the time to wrap that thing up the way they did.

Wish my lift would have shown up! I am afraid with the offset of these wheels I am going to have to do some chopping on my bumper & everything else to not have rubbing.

Did some trimming, did a lot of trimming! Cut an inch & a half off the ends of my bumper. Cut flairs, fenders, running boards & flattened my pinch weld. It is still going to rub some at stuff. These are -38 SCS wheels, it’s the offset that is ****ing me. It is livable I think. With a tiny bit more work I’ll be able to go lock to lock. My lift will be here tomorrow.

Dobinsons dual drawer with fridge slide. Also have a pair of Dobinsons upper rear control arms coming. I have a slight vibration under acceleration that may be pinion angle related.

Currently installing my Iron Man bumper as well. What did you do about the hood running into the top bar of the bumper? Any pictures of what you had to cut to get the hood to close properly? I like the idea of cutting the fender side of the bumper for clearance.

I just adjusted the bumper forward as far as it would go. My hood does not clear, I just force it by the bull bar.

Factory Toyota locker & harness in the way. Now I just need to find the front axle out of an 80 series cheap...

Lockers give me boners! Harness, studs & gasket in route. Also got a pair of extended rear sway bar links from Dobsons. There is a pair or upper rear adjustable links sitting on the bench. Need to get my brothers 4Runner off of the lift!
