Wife took the LX to the airport(hour away) to pick up our friends. She just called to tell me that the D/S wiper isn't moving, maybe a slight jump, while the P/S wiper is working fine. She just stopped at a Toyota Dealer on the way home and the parts guy I talked to said that the arm and bolt are "there" and that I need a wiper transmission. He didn't have the part so I take it he wasn't trying to sell me something I don't need. However, I'm skeptical. Any chance it the arm is stripped and he didn't see it?

Kind of fishing for some help here before I take a look at it when she gets home.

I'm going from memory here but since the PS wiper still works, and the wiper motor is on USPS side as well, it might very well be the linkage (tranmission link?) broke loose. If this is the case then you'd just need to put/tighten it back together.

Frank.

Is it affixed with a nut at the base where it pivots ? If it is , then you might only have to gain assess to the nut and tighten it down . (if that is the cause ) I have had to do this with my 4Runner when I turned on the wipers while they were iced in place ..

I talked to the parts guy at the dealership and that's what he said he thought it was before he looked at it. My wife gets there, he looks at it, and says I need the trans.

OK, so I get home and sure enough the arm is loose. I pop off the cover, loosen and take off the bolt, check it out, put the bolt back on, tighten it slightly more than it was previously, and what do you know? The wiper works fine.

Thanks Jim the parts guy for that quote of $181.00 for the wiper trans plus labor.

:D

Now go enjoy a
