I'll guess at 17850-50210 S shaped intake air pipe 9907 to 0208
17700-50181 air cleaner assembly 9907 to 0208
I hope you have a fat wallet! Cheaper to insulate the battery

Thanks 100TD. Are those part numbers for the 4.7 Petrol or the diesels? If I had known you guys had them in Oz, I would have scoured the Junk Yards when I was out there.

European UZJ numbers as pictured on the photo above as far as I can tell, I don't know anybody with a petrol engine, although I see them around, will try to get a pic one day.

is this what you're after?

Yes, that's exactly it! Did you pay extra for that or do all the Aussie 4.7 Petrol 100's come with it? I'm noticing the P/S reservoir is in the way of a larger battery. Do you happen to know the group size of your battery?

Btw, must be nice to have that manual transmission.

Had the cyclone filter on my '97 80 which I was driving around the middle east. After a drive in sandy areas I would just empty the sand collector cup under the filter. Works as a centrifuge (like spin drying clothes) by rotating the air so that all heavy particles are separated out. That 80 was a "General Countries" spec, delivered by Toyota Africa Division in Japan, for delivery to middle east countries. Also had dual diesel filter for the same sandy reason. Those cyclone filter cartridges last nearly for ever.

Also the standard round filter on the 100 TD (pic above) doesn't need changing as long as it is not damaged. Just blow and wash! every 60' km (40' m).

Would be interesting to know the cost (including timewise) of fitting cyclone on the 100.

hoser, that's from the factory. All Aussie V8s have it AFAIK. I had ARB fit the second battery and the P/S reservoir had to be moved and attaches to the ARB battery assembly. What's the group size and where do i look to find it?
yeah the manual is good. The dealer was surprised when i asked for a manual, but that's what i wanted. It's a hassle in city traffic, but thankfully i don't do much of that.

Power steering fluid reservoir

i just re-read a couple of the posts on here.

Hoser, Are you able to repost the USA pic in the first post as it doesnt show up for me.

Basically where my second battery is, is where the P/S reservoir was factory mounted. Pity i dont have before and after photos of the dual battery kit install.
ARB have instructions if you buy the kit from them and i was originally going to do it myself but found that i would have to remove the factory mount bracket, drain the reservoir, cut the hose to shorten it, refit the hose, remount the reservoir on the new assembly mount point, refill the reservoir, strip and solder a wire to the starter for dual battery and run another wire for the ground.....sounded like too much work for such an expensive car especially if i feked it up!! So i phoned ARB and booked it in for them to do.

if it was my old Holden Monaro V8 with it's Quadrajet carby and Scorcher dual point distributer i wouldn't have blinked an eye and just done it!!

i might check to see if i still have the install instructions and if so, scan them and post them here.

edit: actually, Hoser, i'll grab the digital camera off of my good mate Brad later in the week and just go up to my local Toyota dealer take some photos of a stock V8 engine bay. And maybe finally buy my own camera next payday!!
cheers

Mooooooo,

The group size battery is usually printed somewhere on the battery but that is not really important. I'm guessing a larger battery than picture could be fitted.

I'd like to source a used set-up if possible for cost reasons. So if any of you Ozzie's can conveniently get these parts from a parts car/junk yard, I'd compensate you for your time or exchange with you something unique to the U.S.--not sure what that'd be though.

Edit: removed wrong pic

hoser,
it's a full size battery (as big as the factory battery, possibly slightly bigger) and it's a "deep draw" battery, Exide brand, but i'll go out and check to see if the group size is printed anywhere on it in the morning.

Yeah i could see the photos of the Saudi guys engine bay....but not yours...can you post yours? i'd need to know what i need to get from the wreckers by looking at yours. The left hand side (if you are leaning over the grill it's the lefthand side) of the air filter assembly (i'll take some more photos) goes through the guard and the opening sits above the plastic inner guard which is above the wheel. The safari snorkel i have connects to that. So to do any maintenance or checks on the snorkel you have to take off that plastic inner guard which i did to check ARBs quality of work.

Southern 4wd Wreckers listed on here http://www.autotrader.com.au/DealerProducts/DealerProduct.asp?ProductID=10705
seem to have a few 100s.

I won't be able to go to the wreckers this Satruday as i have someting else planned but could go the following which is the 15th...unfortunately they are only open until 12 noon on Saturdays and closed Sundays.

Thanks for the lead on the dismantlers. I was wondering what you call a dismantler over there since we have many names for them here... auto wrecker, junk yard or salvage yard.

I took some pics of my intake. I also took off the engine cover to reveal the rest of our intake/canister. The big question is, do the Ozzie 100's have that same plastic canister under the cover, looks smog related. If not, then this isn't going to work out for me.

The intake hole through the guard (fender) where you attached your snorkel should have the same postion as ours since we often use the same Safari snorkel.

Thanks for your help. Much appreciated. Even if this doesn't work out, I can still mount a smaller starting battery behind my current intake filter and mount the larger deep cycle battery in our stock location.

As for part differences, I can see:
Cyclonic Filter box
Filter element
S pipe which is connected to that smog canister under the intake?
P/S reservoir bracket? (would be nice but I could probably fabricate one)
P/S hoses (also nice but I could probably find something that will work)

We usually just call them wreckers!

wow...that is very different. Looks like i'll have to take off the engine cover and take some photos of mine to see what else is different and to see if that cannister is there.

A little in the game...

but one of you asked me to look into this a little. ;)

I did not read through this thread too closely, but here are the part numbers I found of the air cleaner assy's for the 100:

-17700-17200 (9801-0208) 1HDFTE, HDJ101
-17700-17291 (0208-) 1HDFTE, HDJ101

-17700-51070 (9801-0208) 2UZFE, UZJ100
-17700-50170 (0208-) 2UZFE, UZJ100 (Same PN)

And here are the diagrams:

Thanks Mot!

It looks like JDM petrol 100's get the non-cyclonic (rectangle) air filter as well. The cyclonic filter (round) is pictured in the first post. The Aussie spec cruisers get them but there are few petrol 100's in Oz. The Middle Eastern spec cruisers get the cyclonics too but it seems difficult to obtain a used one. New assemblies would be probably be cost prohibitive.

I think I have just given up on this. I mainly wanted the cyclonic filter so that I could fit 2 batteries of the same size in the LX. I think I will just put a large group 31 size in place of the OEM battery and run everything off of that. Then put a smaller booster battery next to the AHC reservoir for jump starts.
