Last AAV Mountain Rendezvous I won a set of Maxtrax in the raffle. Not really wanting/needing them, Ryan proposed a trade for a brand new 79" CVT Awning he'd won at a previous raffle. Super - he wanted the Maxtrax and I wanted an awning! Super trade for both of us

Fast forward awhile and a considerable amount of research on how to mount the awning on my INTI rack I found BajaRack's 5" awning mounting brackets. Fortunately the spread of the INTI rails were the same as BajaRack! Ordered a set of three just because of the length of the awning. They fit beautifully!

Couple of pics. Need to go set it up now too!

Nice, took you long enough:flipoff2:... Meanwhile I'm searching everywhere for the slee headlight harness I purchased off @Bluetribal months ago to rewire with new connectors & relays to utilize the dual filament H4 and on the H1 driving on the Depos on I got a year ago:rolleyes:

I may still see what I might be able to fabricate to add another mounting point at the very front. No hurry as the three mounts are very very solid.

Funny you mention the light harness. I've been thinking about just replacing the bulbs I've got with 'newer' technology. Lights are getting yellowish looking. I've read somewhere that Slee's harness won't really help that tho.

The mounts look solid. Is the front basket too big/tall for the bajarack mount? How much of the leading portion of awning is unsupported?

sent you a pm about the harness.

Front area is 8" tall. There's 27" unsupported up front. Thinking about using bolts on either side of the front tube and a piece of metal behind the tube to bolt thru. I don't need much more at all. Just overkill support. If I'd have been thinking I should have purchased two sets of two and just extended one of them to 8". Oh well.

Congrats!

I only have three mounts on my 2500 and it's plenty solid. I would imagine three mounts on your 2000 is more than sufficient.

Did you use the Front Runner mounts or something else? You going to add pictures to your build thread, Would like to see the overhang?

I used the Front Runner mounts (RRAC029). From the center of the respective mount to the end of the awning is 17.5" front and back. Can't really see the mounts or overhang, but this shows the alignment front to back.

I have been seriously lagging on updating my build thread, I need to add a bunch of stuff

Eric, how much of your awning extends out on either end of your rack?

8" front and back.

thx - thinking I may want to fab up some sort of support at the front then. 27" seems a little long.

Here's the overhang on mine. Measurements above.

Got around to replicating an 8" mount for the front. Copied the Baja design. $7 piece of steel from HD and a little bending and cutting. The little Harbor Freight torch I use to light fires was just enough heat to make the steel bendable. SIL's SO had a small mig welder that made quick work of the welds.

Feel better with that much more support up front. Crappy cell phone pic
