Well, I haven't posted on this site in years, but I recently got back into the game, and instead of posting over on pirate, I figure, why not on mud? I bought some 37x12.50R16.5 Goodyear MT military takeoffs from Andy at TWF. Got five of them for $313, including shipping. I bought the ideal heated knife, thinking I could rock big lug removal with it. NOT SO. Figured out an oscillating multi tool is the go to. I altered the blade, but here is the tread pattern I got to (though it took me nearly six hours per tire):

Plan on wheeling in a lot of sand? Lugs like that probably won't last long on much else.

No, but I won't be crawling that much either. Will be on a 2nd gen 4runner in The Ozarks. I figure, if I start ripping off lugs, then they are a $65 a piece tire, and I'm ok with that. They are definitely going to flex more. The other tread pattern I came up with, makes them more like a Simex Extreme Trekker 2. I will post that one when I get home.

This is the route I went. The best by far if you are removing lugs. Found mine for $18.99 at Walmart. Even cheaper than HF. The sidewall report is no bueno, but I will let you know how they do on the trail. I'm heading out for my first run this weekend.

The other tread design.

Well, they did not work out. This was at a local spot here in the Ozarks (Rush Springs Ranch). Tore a bunch of lugs off on a hill climb. On to some 35x12.50R15 Milestar Patagonia M/T's. Will put them on the stock 15x7's with 1" wheel spacers. Live and learn :flush:
