So, the guy who I purchased my FJ60 from had recently bought the light duty OME suspesion kit, and had a local mechanic put it on. I'm taking it the guy got the 'bargain' kit as it when we really looked at it, it has the stock barbell shackles, and the stock pins, with the new springs, bushings, shocks and steering stablizer. The mechanic who did it 'customized' the shackels for anti-inversion by welding metal plates on the frame to prevent inversion. He also put what look like 1x2 aluminum blocks between the spring and the plate on the back, I'm assuming to make the spring fit better? Only prob is, it feels like your driving on stilts, and has that 'swaying' feeling that's referenced when the caster angle is off. So, my question is, any opinions on whether I should keep the custom job and just put greasable pins in there, and maybe replace the stock shackles with new ones, or have the plates taken off so I can put the anti inversion shackles on? Also, what's the deal with the aluminum blocks?

pics .. ?

why try to invet the wheel ? there are many cheap shackles option in the market and also anty inversion ones ..

it certainly shouldn't be too bad to address the fronts. if you want, just whack off those plates on the frame and replace with true anti-inversion shackles or standard barbell types, if you feel the existing shackles need replacement. on the rear, my initial guess is length of shackle bolts - maybe they seemed too long to him. a block between the plate and spring won't do anything for your height - like leveling the rig, etc. i'd pull that apart just to see if you can determine what it was done for. you shouldn't need them there - unless i'm missing something obvious (i'm a bit fried from work right now).
