I bought a roof rack for my LX470 from @reevesci. There were two different sytles of roof racks used on 100 series. I need to use the front most mounting holes, which on my LX is covered by the channel molding as I have the shorter factory roof rack that does not use these mounting holes. My question is should I just remove the channel moldings completely? Or should I remove it, cut that area out, and then re-install the molding?

do you mean the black plastic rook channel? That's my LC with the rack, the mounts fit, but were tight with the mounts. if they are too tight, I would route them out with a dremel or some sort of rotary tool to barely make them fit. I wouldn't remove the plastic runners. if you like, I can send you pics of my mounts.

Yes the black plastic roof channel. I have to remove it anyways because it covers the front mounting holes. I was just wondering if I should trim the channel molding to fit the new mounts and re-install it or just leave it off entirely. And yes, please send me pictures of what you have. Thanks.

I would remove it completely, it's only purpose is astectics and dirt trap.

Agree, most installs just remove it completely.

Having the same issue with the Gamiviti rack I'm putting on my LX470 right now. Don't mind leaving the trim out if it's just aesthetics. Should I worry about the windshield trim, where it met the roof trim, starting to flop around or has that not been a problem for anyone?

Removed it when I installed my LabRak.
