I had a manufacturer that builds our battery boxes make me some tops to hold down Optima batteries. They are so cool that I might have them make 50 or so to sell. They contour fit the tops of the batteries, and have 2 stainless bolts to hold the battery down to its bottom mount. On my 62, I will run a bolt up from the bottom into a threaded rod and then bring the counter sunk cap screw down from the top and screw it into the threaded rod.
I have always had hold down problems with Optimas, because the toyota hold down wont properly fit within the Optimas top casting. I made them work but not to my satisfaction.
They are milled out of billet aluminum, fusion coated in just about any color you would want, then my logo is laser etched into the top. The fusion coating process is similar to powdercoating, but has proven itself to have better resistance to petroleum products and scratching. If anyone is at all interested in some, I am thinking they will be around 40.00 with hardware, any color you want. Yes, I will have the logo turned around so it can be read, and no, it does cost me anything to have it put on.

more pictures, and if it'll work with my new optima red top dual post I'm game.

i would be interested in two for my 85 fj60 let us know when available and if you need deposit. thanks richard

Nice, I also really liked your plug for "Best Cruiser" in the background.

If they run around $40 or so put me down for 4. If you offer a bulk rate I would take 10 or so.

What about making one to fit the NAPA Excel?

If there were enough of them to cover the CAD costs it would be easy. I can change the logo also if needed, the set up charge is minimal. There are also bottoms for the Optimas but, in a Cruiser I dont see the reason, unless you need a flat spot for the battery.
As far as the "plug" goes, I didn't mean too , I really didn't. OK I did.

very nice work, those rule.

Put me down for 2 please...dual optimas in my rig... :D :D

I would like them as soon as you can get them done...BLUE in COLOR

thx,
R.

Very nice, I would also be interested in a couple. Only have one battery now, but have dual on my list for the future.

OT: Where can I read about dual optima setup on an FJ60? I am paranoid about electrical failure. Every truck I've ever owned had dual batteries.

I have an Orbital (NAPA Optima) and a blue top in my 62. Not a difficult set up at all. You can use a selector switch, solinoid or isolater. DO a search here. Gary has a nice set up.

Gary,

You can do logos on them? Lets talk at ICBM. Guess what I want on mine?

My battery is currently being held down by zip ties.

I guess that means I need one as well!

Personally, I'd like mine in polished Al. Either that, or the brightest shade of pink you can find. :princess:

Do you have any with rust already on them? I want to keep the orginal look going.

Put me down for two also! Thanks.

Very Koooool.

If it were not for all the electrical threads that I have read and Landpimp brain washing me I would buy two, but it looks like we will be trying the Orbitals.

These can be done in just about any color, with or with out logo. I would recomend not polished though because of oxidation/corrosion of the aluminum. It should work on any flat surface. You might have to use a longer bolt for each side, or modify the mounting somewhat.
I will wait a litlle while until everyone that wants one replies, and talley up how many to make.
Gary

I'm serious about the pink. :princess:
