so........way back when i started to mentally get ready for my first expo (OBX) with the FJ Bruisers....I started a thread looking for suggestions on storage for water and gas...I got a lot of good suggestions too (thx Bruisers)....
Mike Curnow (gotta give him some credit  ) put me on to a group buy in the blue room for the all new Allpro rear bumper swing out...they were having a group buy but i couldnt wait for that...OBX was comin up and quick...
after some good advice from Fred and Mike, I decided to take the plunge and order the swing out...anticipating having to modify the brackets (didnt know who was gonna do them at the time - it was a total leap of faith)
All Pro was having a sale that weekend = free shipping on all items July 4th weekend..so i ordered it (no powdercoating) cuz i knew there would be modifications..
i got the swing out in a very timely manner..they hadnt started fabrication yet (on the day i ordered it) so it took about 10 days for fab then 5 for shipping...
in the mean time, i met up with Doug (Automotive Outfitters/Toyota World in Newark, DE) at the Cecil County fair (having already known Doug for awhile, i still had no idea of his fabricating and welding skills)...we had a long chat at the fair and that's when i decided to ask him to take on the project...
i really felt comfortable with my decision and trusted him to do a great job...
ok..enough BS...onto the good stuff!!
i do wanna give myself a little credit for the conceptualization but more importantly Doug and his right hand guy Chuck (who i found out today lives right near me :bigthumb:)
get most of the credit...they did one **** of a job making the custom brackets to fit the ARB...and the powdercoating is absolutely exquisite...
ok....onto the pics....PLEASE EXCUSE THE DIRTY TRUCK!!!.... :)
if you have not already seen, here is a pic of the actual all-pro bracket for drivers side with the spindle..

after install:

right side bracket with clip

left side bracket with spindle

with the Wedco's in place...no rachets yet

btw...the rachet straps are on now...will take pics tomorrow in the day light...
i opted for blue..there were camo ones but not as strong...

i think its about 50lbs...

it comes off when not needed or in use...
one person (guy) can remove no problem...

i would need another set of hands..

:D

looks good, would be kind of nice if the swing out held the actual tire too

Nice, but I don't know about adding 50# to my vehicle to carry 10 gallons of fuel. Seems like a lot of extra weight for not a lot of gain. Cool none the less.

i hear ya...on the weight...unfortunately not much else out there if you dont wanna put it up on the roof...and you plan on doing some expo stuff...
i also plan on puttin the hi-lift and shovel there too...

ive been driving around with it since friday...highway and city...and have noticed no difference in handling and/noise...

its just unfortunate that there arent more choices here..

having the tire on the swing out would more than likely prevent
the easy removal for storage if you didnt need to keep it there...
for extended periods...

My company, Thetoyoutfitters.com, will make a swing out for any metal bumper. It holds the spare tire as well as a jerry can rack and can also accomodate a hi lift jack as well.

Here is one on our tube bumper for the FJ

Here is one on a 4RNR, the jerry can rack is the same for the FJ. The Hi-Lift mount goes on the inside of the swing out.

i would have considered your offer but couldnt ship my truck to NC.... :)

I dont require the truck if it is for an FJ, just the bumper :)

hmmmm...i swore you told me you needed my truck.. LOL

:whoops:

II probably told you that I needed either the bumpr or the truck and you just focused on the truck part. No worries :) I still get people that think I should be able to just send them a "kit"

Nice All-Pro rear bumper swingout. it looks cool. it would be nice if it held the spare tire, that would keep the weight off the rear door hinges.
