For sale Custom 1973 FJ40 – 327 – 700R4 – disc brakes – Vintage Air – and tons more….. $15,000.00 obo
I have decided to sale my 1973 FJ40 that I have owned since 2000. This FJ40 has undergone a complete frame off restoration and modernization that sets it apart from all other FJ40s out there. 98% of all work was done by me and my father with the intention of owning this vehicle forever. Over the 12 years I have owned this vehicle it was a daily driver for 6 years and was constantly being improved. Unfortunately for the last 2 years, job and life commitments have allowed me less and less time to enjoy the FJ40. I have come to the hard conclusion that I would rather have someone else enjoy the vehicle than have it sit unused in my basement. Over the 12 years I have owned this vehicle I have spent over $24,000.00 on parts alone, as I have done everything myself except, upholstery on the front seats, transmission rebuild, and third member rebuild. I have receipts for much of this. All receipts, manuals, photos, and information are included in this sale. This vehicle is not perfect and if it was I would ask over $30,000.00 for it. I am pricing this cruiser at $15,000.00 which I feel is an incredible deal. This is less than I would like, but I feel that it reflects the current market for collector cars and the economy. This car is very solid, but is not perfect. It does have some rust on the tub and front fenders which could easily be fixed. It has hands down the best interior I have ever seen on a FJ40. It was built to be a daily driver. I have taken tons of pictures over the years including current ones that show the complete scope of this project. It is very difficult to summarize all that has been done to this FJ40 so if you have any questions please feel free to ask. The vehicle can be seen in person in Morganton, NC (western North Carolina) and I’m sure you won’t be disappointed. You can pm me here or email me at james.a.avery77atgmail.com (replace at with @). I also have a 1973 hardtop, sides, rear door, and front doors, as well as an extra set of rear ambulance doors and late model rear jump seat frames and many other parts that I could sweeten the deal with.

Nice looking truck - hate you have to let her go, but I'm sure someone will snag this up for a nice turnkey, ready to roll 40.

This confuses me though:

3:73 rebuilt rear third member from Iron Pig off-road
4:11 front third member

You have different R&P ratios in the front and rear? Might want to clarify. Good luck with the sale.

Yes, its a 4:11 in the front, rebuilt 3:73 from iron pig offroad in the rear...... i didnt use 4x4 at all so never got around to swapping out the front so the new owner will need to swap one of the 2 to have 4x4 if inclined, or if thats a deal breaker let me know and we can surely work something out. Thanks :)
