I finally have a rear bumper, sliders and a skid plate from Cruisin Off Road.

I have looked at all the big names like 4x4 labs, Hannah Quality, Slee, Iron Pig and so on but my only problem was that I was going to have to get everything shipped into Canada and customs and brokerage fees add up fast.

When I found out about Cruisin Off Road I got excited, Canadian based and just getting his company going. What I liked about his products was that he built stuff that fit with the HDJ81 (don't worry his stuff also fits with all 80's), the products looked to be built solid and the price was more then reasonable.

I was going to get the stuff shipped but we decided to make a road trip to pick everything up, plus it was free installation at his shop.

My first impression when I saw the bumper was that there was no question that it was solid, and very well built. I got a ladder with fuel cans and hi-lift swing out and also the built in 2" receiver. Now for some pics:

I would be interested to see how well that skid plate holds up
You need to go bash on it a bit and report back

Very cool, I like the hi-lift mount, very accessible.

How do you like the jerry can holder on the ladder?

Seems like a great way to get the 3 most popular accessories all one one bumper

It works really well. I really like that it only has to be on when I want to use plus I think they are at just the right height

Cheers

+1 for Jason at CruisinOffRoad. He's built my rear bumper caps, swing-out arm, sliders and now he's doing a masterpiece on my front bumper, custom designed and built to work with my factory toyota winch. Awesome guy and top notch work.

The sliders and rear caps have held up to some very nasty occurrences and mishaps with mountainsides. He's also making me a skid plate, and I have absolutely no doubt it will hold up to anything I can throw at it. I believe the whole thing is 1/4 inch steel.

Nice bumpe for sure!!!! 1/4 plate throughout is a hefty and seriously uneeded weight penalty but some people likt to take down trees at forty mph in their cruisers apparently, lol!!!

The big question still is how well will the skid plate hold?

Well if you compare it to all the other brands out there I think it will hold up just as good or better. I probably won't use it to it's full potential, but maybe other that has it on will chime in

1/4" steel

Thats a good start.
I wonder if there is any realworld results from the skid plate out there

The bumper is made of a combination of 3/16", 1/4" and 1/2". I don't know the weight of the bumper but off the truck it is manageable with one person!

1/4 inch steel is going to be far superior to what is there stock... which feels like it's made of fiberglass :flipoff2:
As I already wrote above, I'm sure it's just as solid as the rest of Jason's work which I can attest is VERY strong.

By the way Jeff and Splittilps, you can purchase 1/2 inch wide black 3M grip tape by the foot at Home Depot. I've put strips along the steps on my sliders, and 4 months later they show no signs of wear or of peeling off. Very grippy (like sandpaper) and make stepping into the cruiser safer, especially when it's wet and/or cold out. Total cost: $4.60

it is fibreglass

Thanks for the 3m tape idea, I already have some just need to put it on

I used torun that ladder tape on my sliders. My kid slid outta thruck on one campin/wheelin trip and it pretty seriously scratched all down his thigh and back. Mild roadrash like he crashed his bike...just a thought, it does work awesome in the wet where the sliders are ssssuper slippery
