Oh do I have an idea for this!Definitely need to find somewhere we can do a little drag race tourney with model/induction/gearing/tires/weight so people can get a feel for performance without having ridden in one. Need several 80's 100 and 200 for reference.
Motorcycle! Cause….why not?Oh do I have an idea for this!
Let’s say it’s a NA 80, turbo 80, built 200, stock 200, 911 and a twin turbo v12. Pretty sure we can do this based on cars available around my neighborhood! Maybe even throw in a plane or two, top gear style!
Yes that too. But it’s probably a “cruiser” based on this neighborhoodMotorcycle! Cause….why not?
so.................... how do we get on that runway that is nearby!?Oh do I have an idea for this!

I had an opportunity to drive a supercharged 80 Thursday and I wanted to share my thoughts and compare it with the turbocharged trucks that I’m familiar with.
To start off, I have a naturally aspirated 97 80. My truck is on 33” tires and 4.10 gears. It’s a solid truck, runs well and gets decent fuel mileage (for a Land Cruiser haha). So I’m using that as my baseline for comparison.
I’ve driven several turbocharged trucks recently, all of them being a “stage 1” setup, but having different exterior modifications like tires, gearing, and armor.
The Supercharged 80 I drove yesterday had 315s, front and rear steel bumpers, and 4.56 gears. It moved okay but felt fairly sluggish at lower RPM, not much faster than my 80. The midrange power was unimpressive, and the top end of the RPM range yielded a bit more power and pull compared to my NA 1FZ.
Overall, the supercharger does add some power to an 80 but I wasn’t that impressed with the power delivery.
The turbocharged trucks that I’ve driven are much more responsive throughout the RPM range. The turbo does need time to spool up, but once it does it’s much more noticeable. The mid-range to top end pull from the turbo is significantly better than the pull from the supercharger.
I’d heard mixed reviews about the supercharger on the 1FZ-FE and so I was happy to get some hands on experience with this setup. After comparing the two different forced induction setups I feel confident that the Turbo setup yields more power and performance than the supercharger.
If I were spending my money on some horsepower upgrades, I’d definitely go the turbo charged route.
Yes! Let’s do this…maybe a nighttime run if we’re using the runway! There is a 97 supercharged 80 with 4.56:1, front (ARB) and rear (Slee) bumper (and Slee sliders) at @Cruisers and Co right now. It belongs to my son.
Game if you want to include it. I could bring the 250 as well. Hahah.
IJS…
I was thinking that one would have to get thrown in the mix! Maybe that 250 too if you could borrow it...There is a 97 supercharged 80 with 4.56:1, front (ARB) and rear (Slee) bumper (and Slee sliders) at @Cruisers and Co right now. It belongs to my son.
We could video a drag race between the two.

Who is in charge and how do we get them on board? Tell them it's for scienceYes! Let’s do this…maybe a nighttime run if we’re using the runway!
Maybe better to ask for forgiveness vs permission??Who is in charge and how do we get them on board? Tell them it's for science
oh @JohnnyUtah2 has a 100 as well! I think we’re set!Maybe better to ask for forgiveness vs permission??
@satchel has a fleet of rigs to add to the mix.
I have access to a supercharged 200 too. We’re going to need a legit 100 tho.
a 55 (you have one of those too)
Cats out of the bag, you guys heard it here first... One of C&C's winter projects. Turbo 1FZ FJ55OK, but do we do this before or after the turbo 1fz transplant?![]()
I'd love to take you up on that. I have a naturally aspirated FZ-FE. That adores eating supercharged 80s. Never been next to a turbo before. Been curious how they performed. Mine 35s 488s bumpers etc. Next month they are having a drift event @ pikes peaks speedway they open up the 1/8 mile for drags. Be a great place to do something like that. I'll bring the calendars so we can know our ETs hahaDefinitely need to find somewhere we can do a little drag race tourney with model/induction/gearing/tires/weight so people can get a feel for performance without having ridden in one. Page 1 I talk about a control truck. Fully built 35's 4.88 Robbie rebuild with 100K on it. Test mule is fully built 35's 4.10's Robbie rebuild with just over 100K on it... Very similar trucks. 4.88 gets dusted everytime by the turbo 4:10 haha but would love to have another truck in the mix! Mine has about 90k on it still runs on reg pump gas. Only thing that has gapped me was a semi built LS He got me on the 60 fter .. and I couldn't catch him. Keep me in the loop I love racing blocks with wheels . Mine is more set up for going fast off road but a little drag racing will be fun .Page 1 I talk about a control truck.
