My version sounds cooler :flipoff2:

iLSv6.8
LS'D 6D
Chebby Love
DNBH8NIV8N

My favorite, that would complement the 80s lifted stance and corresponding front driveline angle woes:

Sexty Toy

the thing is the "Z" came with the option for locked axles...

LS'D-JZ Sexty

Now, THAT'S gotta ring to it, one deserving a white flat bill hat and a hip hop song....

Cue Dre, Snoop:

"....an I be rolling in my SIX OH...with all the (inappropriate expletive) singing....

(Choir)

"Swing down, Sweet Matty.
Stop....let, let me ride.."

Hell yeah!

you don't get to build a half 60 half 80 without the tech thread being at least half riddled with chat

Is this in tech?

I'd give grief for authoring an incorrectly titled, "pre" build thread, but those that drive rusty Cruisers, shan't throw salt.

But then how is anyone supposed to know its on an 80 chassis? :)

Who cares?

I don't mean that rhetorically, but literally, who is really going to care?

Why, the same people that will immediately take note of the tires sticking out past the fender well, the upside down front third, lack of those funny elliptical looking thingies from frame to axle, and you, Matt, not having the bulge in your drawers, since you won't need Depends anymore, like a leaf sprung Cruiser requires.

The correct nomenclature will always be the following regardless of what anyone says because Toyota designated it this way:

Engine family, vehicle family, series, and then all subsequent internal designations.

Thus: V8J-140G.

While not a Toyota designation, this would keep with the correct developmental and manufacturing nomenclature used by Toyota for over 50 years.

Don't screw with something that has worked quite well for over a half a century.

Lol

I don't see anyone getting on Manu's case!

Ya, you can keep all this in your thread. :)

and the misquote was, you had quoted somebody else with my name, but you fixed it and I don't really give a poo anyways.

Cheers

Been driving my 62 a TON and changed my mind on a couple things. Here's what I've decided:

I don't want an automatic Land Cruiser older then 1990.

I want a diesel.

So I think this truck will get an Isuzu, either 4BD1T or 2T. Haven't decided yet and I'm no rush to do that, plenty of time for that.

H55f transmission.

3.70 gears.

I have a late H42/splitcase combo on the garage floor so As soon as I find a crossmember I can get that bolted in (using the front driveshaft for reference), this will help with getting the rear end in the proper location and helping to locate the body.

I also decided that I'm not married to the FJ62 body, although I would prefer it. 60 would be easier because I wouldn't have to swap the pedal bucket but I like the 62 dash way more so it'll just be what's for sale when I'm ready.

If you're gonna screw up a perfectly good (albeit lofty.....and that's saying something considering the source) Cruiser concoction with a 4BT, I say keep it simple naming and go straight to 'BreadVan'. :flipoff2:

One positive might be the corrosion preventative afforded the subsonic forces of the 4BT.

Why not do a 6bt? Yes they are heavier and longer but also produce more power and can be bought for less than a 4cyl. Just my .02.

REREAD you guys!!! Isuzu, not Cummins. Less vibrations and keeps it Japanese. Plus it's been done a few times (a local has two Isuzu diesel 60's for me to look at) so the info is there.

Everyone who's put a 60 on an 80 has used an LS motor. Time for something sort of new.

No we read the Isuzu part just trying to help you out :D. A friend of mine did the 4bd1t in a 60 series. Said it ran well but would have been happier with a 6bt. As the saying goes different strokes for different folks.

Right on. I been very temped to put my out of control Nissan diesel in my 62. That was actually the plan for the Mongrel. 62 body, 80 frame and some suspension, portal axles and the diesel to an NV4500 to an Atlas. I got most of that junk so that was the motivation to do it.

It just depends on your uses of the truck. For me v8 and auto is the way to go in the current build.

Cheers
