Hi Everyone,

As one of the organizers of Cruiser Days 2012, I am looking for your feedback to make Cruiser Days better next year!

No banter and debate here, just send out your feedback, good and bad. We want to hear from you, the participants.

What did you think of the venue?

What about the raffle? 50/50 draw?

Any ideas for shirts next year? Would you like to see anything else for sale?

Was the event too long? too short?

What was the food like? (Elk's concession truck and the restaurant)

Any other comments?

Thanks!

The event was fine time wise, good variety of food from Elks, since I prefer a burger over dogs, even Sailor was all giddy when he found out they had foot long weiners. The only thing I can think of is need for bigger sturdy signs for parking and where to enter for the event, participants would turn around when they would read the park sign 'No Unauthorized Vehicles Allowed' and come up to the Public Parking and then I would have to redirect them back down to the road they were originally on. We should have 2 signs for Public Parking one for the grass and one for the actual park one, and another 2 for Cruiser Days Entrance one for 5th ave corner and one for 3rd ave entrance and maybe temporarily cover up the park sign for the event so there is no confusion.

What did you think of the venue? Venue was excellent. We have a ton of freedom here, the hosts were great people, the shelter is perfect, the location is quite central....doesn't get much beeter, IMO.

What about the raffle? 50/50 draw? I think the 50/50 draw needs someone canvassing the crowds. Raffle was great as always. I heard a lot of kudos on the raffle.

Any ideas for shirts next year? Would you like to see anything else for sale? I love the shirts and would happily pay to keep cools designs if it a matter of a couple of bucks.

Was the event too long? too short? perfect, I think. I didn't get the chance to go check out the vehicles though. D'oh. I just talk too much. :)

What was the food like? (Elk's concession truck and the restaurant) Good to see the Elk's making some money off concession.

Any other comments? The Coastal Cruisers gave the 4WDABC a gift with this event. We had front and centre location and shared in the donation at the gate for entry. We had a great show. I would like to express my thanks for the opportunity and hope to continue next year. However, I would like to hear everyone's candid opinion on this.

The venue was great. Was nice to not feel the eyes of park officials not staring at you to see if you were doing something wrong. It still has a lot of room for expansion if we have more participants and observers.

Shirts are great. If we continue doing this with the 4WDABC, then we may have to add some other 4x4 brand content.

We may also want to consider a different layout for parking to have the other 4x4s more integrated in the event. Perhaps next year we should do alternating rows rather than blocks by brand/club? The Jeep guys really did seem quite on the outer edge.

The Elk's food wagon was also excellent with good prices and good food. Nice to also support another charitable activity by buying our lunch and snacks.

I think we could do a bit better signage for next year. If we go back there next year, maybe get some signs down on hwy 7 a week or so ahead of time. Also print up some laminated direction signs to help direct people who are just observing and people who are showing their rigs to the proper entrance. The park also has an events calendar which we should get onto if we go back there.

What did you think of the venue?
It was great! Close to home, lots of room.

What about the raffle? 50/50 draw?
It sucked cause I didn't win:mad:
All in all I think the raffle prizes were excellent. I wouldn't change a thing

I liked the shirts and would pay a higher price for a quality design / shirt.

Was the event too long? too short?
It was just right.

What was the food like? (Elk's concession truck and the restaurant)
Those hot dogs were great!!

Any other comments?
Ya we need better signage from Lougheed all the way to the park. We need more sponsors and vendors, a better plan in lining up the trucks. More advertising around Mission would draw a bigger crowd.

All in all it was a great time and I really enjoyed it. Thanks!!!

I wasn't there, but I strongly disagree with this. You are then turning the cruiser days show into a regular show and shine and you will simply water down the event. Encourage more to come, where they out number the cruisers, but don't mix them. I for one will drive (and have) 1200km for this show, but if you turn it from a cruiser family get together into a regular show and shine, the event will loose its magic and I will have no urge to come and either will many out of town cruiser heads. I can pick up any off the shelf 4x4 magazine to look at jeeps with the odd cruiser in it, but cruiser gatherings are rare. My 2 cents.
Cheers,
Deny

Edit: my dad said he had a good time, liked all the different cruisers and to talk to the few people he knew. It was too long for him, but he is old.:hillbilly:

I agree with Deny, we don't want to mix and match vehicles, at least I don't. Cruiser Days is a stand alone event with it's own following and the show is just being expanded to incorporate all 4x4's. I look at it like pavilions. I think the parking arrangement could have been better following Rob's original design. The 'other cool trucks' should have been parked close to the vendor center area growing away as more vehicles arrived.

What did you think of the venue?

The venue was perfect, lot's of space.

What about the raffle? 50/50 draw?

As usual the raffle was excellent. I missed the 50/50 draw. We need to choose speaker location differently, as there was no speaker facing towards the far end.

Any ideas for shirts next year? Would you like to see anything else for sale?

Shirts are great, but I would still like to see a different 'material' or whatever it is for the large logo on the back that doesn't give you a big sweat spot.

Was the event too long? too short?

I think it's too short as I start chatting and never get to see all the rigs.

What was the food like? (Elk's concession truck and the restaurant)

The Elks food was okay, nothing exciting really. Typical greasy concession stuff. I didn't try the restaurant.

Any other comments?

I say no to mixing the vehicles. It's fine by me to have other brands there, but keep them segregated. Just perhaps a wee bit closer.

My intent was not to mix all the rigs up but to get the others closer into where the action is rather than off in a small group in right field.

If we continue to do a joint show and shine with the 4WDABC, then it will likely be calls for it to be more integrated and may cease being Cruiser Days. The odd Nissan or Jeep is one thing:o but the 4WDABC have quite a few active members who are not Toyota owners. At least that is the impression I got from the last Stave lake clean-up. Anyways, it is something for the Coastal Cruisers and 4WDABC to both consider.

I presume 4WDABC will also be surveying their members in the Lower Mainland. That would give us an idea of what they thought of the event and what changes they may like to see.

Well when that time comes, you guys can consider it, but I for one will not attend a joint show and shine. I have been building my mine truck for the last five years and hope to finish in the next year or two and can't wait to bring it down to cruiser days. If it will be a general 4x4 show, I could care less showing a bunch of Jeep guys my truck cause they don't have the same passion for cruisers like a true cruiser head does, and most won't even have a clue what it is. This is my opinion and if the CC want to go that route, that is fine, but I can tell you right now, you may lose a few local non-cc members going to the show, or people travelling long distance, or up from the states, may not bother.:meh:

That really is the key question Deny. One I am sure that will be an interesting topic for upcoming club meetings. I don't think the intent of a joint show was to reduce the prominence of the Cruisers but to build up the visual impact and participation in both the Association and our Club. I am guessing because I wasn't at the meeting when it was decided.

This year being a joint show was the first time I filled out an entry form and actually lifted the hood - not that I expected anything of it with the condition of my Safari. I was actually to busy with looking at Cruisers, the vendor displays, BSing and other stuff to have time to inspect the non-Toyotas.

I received some feedback from the park maintenance after the event and they were very pleased with how clean we left the place, they thought it may have been cleaner than when we first arrived.

I agree we need more and better signs, if this will be our Cruiser Days location for a while we should invest in some signs.

For T-shirts, I really appreciate the design and thought that went into the shirts as I am no artist. My input is if we could do something a bit simpler that could cost less and net the club more. Some of mine and the kids favorites are the older grey ones with a simple 45 on the back as the bigger picture ones tend to stick to your back in the heat. I like the idea of a different series each year too.

Thanks,
Jeremy

Also the venue was great for the group photo shot on the hill side. I thought the turn out was the best I have seen in the last few years.
