Thinking about a Moab trip

I am checking on the possibility of making the Moab trip but I have never been to Moab so I don't know what to exect or which trips to sign up for. Any inputs would be helpful in making a decision.

Take a look at the RS site and read the link from RR4W's Trail Descriptions.

with one locker and 31's, i would stay on the 3+ Trails, or possibly hells revenge if you want to push yourself a bit! its a fun tral, most the hard stuff is optional.

Moab is the best wheeling ive ever seen, Great Scenary, weather, and trails!, Cruise moab adds Very cool People, and some of the Nicest Cruisers in the country!

Upgrades for trail rides

Currently I have 31" BFG's but I have most of the parts for the SOA and set of 15 x 8 wheels that are begging for 36" x 12.5" x 15" TSL radials. The SOA is currently planned to be installed in February. Of course this will need to tested locally before it truck makes a 7 hour trip.

I have a trailer that I may use to transport the FJ60 to Moab or the FJ60 could be used to pull the trailer loaded anther truck so that if one of the two ends up requiring tranport to make it back to Colorado it would be available.

in that case, if your going spring over, Any of the 4+ Trails would be suitable, The Trail leaders will help guide you through the lines, and are always there to help with a tug if you cant make something!

a trailer is Very nice for the trip to moab, 36" swamper's would be make for a long 7 hours on I-70

I booked the Moab trip. I have three months to do upgrades the FJ60. Anyone else from Colorado Land Cruisers planning to go?

I am waiting for confirmation on the camping reservations. We are planning on trailering Pretty Penny.

Pretty Penny is the name my wife gave to the 60. I think its because the 60 is nice looking and is the same color as a penny. I think my wife has a different reason for the name?

I will have Mike myself and two 7 year olds with me. We are planning on leaving some time on Wednesday April 30th and returning on Sunday May 4th.

It Looks like Tim, and Wayne + Company will be at CM 08! Registration is filling up QUICK!

I want to run Pritchett Canyon, Moab Rim, Behind the Rocks, and or golden spike..

But any of the 4 Runs i would consider,(Ive already done them, they are all SWEET)

So, Lets get a Plan together to at least be together on one run that we can all do! maybe Hells Revenge or Metal Masher / Steel Bender.. on Thursday

Pritchett on Friday, Behind the Rocks Saturday, and Moab Rim Night Run! (ive heard its less Scary when you cant see the drop offs!)

It looks like Rising Sun wants us to pick our first three trail choices for each day. Just so we can maximize our odds of running the same trails together, perhaps we should try pick the same choices. My folks will bringing out their new FJ Cruiser for its maiden voyage. I'll be setting aside Thursday to run more tame trails with them. Afer that let the carnage begin. Here's the trails I'm looking at. Tell me what you think?

Thursday:
1) Fins & Things
2) Porcupine Rim
3) Chicken Corners

Friday:
1) Pritchett
2) Behind The Rocks
3) Moab Rim

Saturday:
1) Behind The Rocks
2) Pritchett
3) Moab Rim

I was also thinking we could run Moab Rim and Hell's Revenge on our own at night. Sound reasonable?

Here are the tails I entered when I signed up. My thinking was to start out on 3.5 to 4 trails and build from their.

I will have two 7 year olds with me who have not done much heavy duty off roading yet so I don't want to listen to them scream the whole way.

Thursday1: Fins & Things
Thursday2: Gold Bar Rim
Thursday3: Kane Creek Canyon
Friday1: Kane Creek Canyon
Friday2: Poison Spider Mesa
Friday3: Metal Masher
Saturday1: Moab Rim
Saturday2: Golden Spike
Saturday3: Poison Spider Mesa

We are in.

Whole family is coming! Even got a space at slick rock campground! Just need to fix the parking brake and we will pass tech without issue.

Thursday2: Metal Masher
Thursday3: Golden Spike
Friday1: Pritchett Canyon
Friday2: Moab Rim

One Month to go Fellas, How is the Preparation going??

Ive got about 10 little things to get done, and 2 or 3 big ones to get all ready to go!

i know that Ben is up to his eyeballs in work to get done - https://forum.ih8mud.com/hardcore-corner/200748-fj55-build-colorado-style.html

He needs to finish up his suspension, put back together the engine, and install it, re install the front clip, install a cage, and get the interior back together.. plus about 100 other small things! If anyone has some time on the weekends and can help out let me know!

Tim, i bet your all ready to go!

Chuck, Is the Diff back together yet??

Where are you guys Staying??

I've got to change my oil for the year and grease everything up. :p

We're staying at the Red Rock Lodge for $65 a night.

I'm back together. I picked up a CB this weekend that I need to install that will be easy. My trailer needs a new bed but that shouldn't be a big deal.

I'm thinking of getting back on that horse (the rock) that bucked me off to test the new gears. Maybe a little less right foot this time.

Staying in the camp ground.
