Cruise control dropping

I recently noticed this problem as well. It cut out for no reason when I had it set at 40mph yesterday. This is the first time it has randomly cut itself off for me but I have noticed in the past it has not even set in the first place. I would turn cruise control on, get up to the speed that I want, push the stalk down to set it but then it wouldn't set. I will keep an eye on this thread and maybe someone will have a solution.

I just found a link with the same issue. Sounds like it's a electrical issue involving the brake light system. I'll post it

Interesting....I experienced cruise control disconnect for the first time last week when coming home during a 500 mile trip. It happened 3x and always after hitting the swooped transition when crossing small bridges on I-5 in central CA. I thought it was some weird vacuum problem occurring with the bounce (isn't that how cruise is activated?) or maybe the dealer did something the week before when I had the timing belt service done.

Now after reading that link - I just swapped my tailgate brake light bulbs before the trip, so that must be it. Cruise control worked great on all the flats set at 70-75mph indicated and whenever it disconnected I simply pushed the lever up to restart my previous speed setting.
