Crankshaft pulley woes

So, on the way home today I lost what I thought was just a belt. Long story short, not only did I lose a belt, I also lost half of the crankshaft pulley it goes around. Anybody have one their willing to part with, it know where I can find one? I know SOR has them used, but I'd like to not have to pay $700 for it. Thanks in advanced.

Thanks, I forgot to mention that I looked on Toyota parts deal, and they have them new for just under $700. The SOR price was for a used one.

I have my old one. It’s really in rough shape and I wouldn’t really want to put it on a truck unless the rubber was replaced. There’s a guy online somewhere who rebuilds Harmonic Balancers for race cars and he has a jig to do the 2f HB.

I was going to go that route but I found these at oreilly. I have had zero problems from mine for the past 3 years or so.

It would also be worth it to ask, how does the crank shaft itself look? Is the key trashed? Do you still have the nut? I want to see pictures of this failure. Glad you’re okay but this sounds interesting...

To be honest, I'm barely into it with the nut off now. It seems to be fine, and while it wasn't the best idea, I was able to drive home the little bit I needed to. Other than getting hot, it ran fine. I doubt there's and internal damage, however while I have the pulley off, I'm replacing the timing cover gasket and seal. They need it, anyway.

Here's what it looks like. I was able to get the nut off by putting a wrench on it and against the frame, and bumping the engine. One hit and it was loose.

Rock auto has a dayco harmonic balancer for about 350. Those things are crazy expensive. I did look at getting mine rebuilt and contacted the guy who rebuilds them. Super helpful guy. I can’t remember his name but could dig around if you decide to go that route. Ended up repairing it myself.

Just found the dayco, do you have an opinion out experience with them? This is my daily, and plan on having it for a while. I also spend time in the woods.

I don’t know much about them. I would let others chime in. At half the price it seems worth a look. Or do a rebuild on the used one offered.

YIKES! That could have been way worse. I’d just order a new one and have peace of mind. $350 doesn’t seem bad. I think I paid $500 for mine at oreilly.

You got lucky. That damage could have been much much worse for a disintegrating HB at speed...

The OE Toyota has a rubber (Elastomeric) center that's supposed to reduce vibration. I dunno. The Dayco is solid and used to be Australian made, but now is a Chi-Com product, I don't think they have any production in Taiwan, but it's been awhile since I looked into it. The Dayco looks fine and I know a couple people who have used them with no issue. Dorman and Dayco are the same unit.

New OE Toyo - looks like the price has GONE WAY UP!!

buy a new one and it will most likely outlast the rig, the original was 35? years old
or buy a good used one for $250

“Doubt” is a loaded question. You might be wise to pull your pan and check your bearings. FYI I was the first one to respond to you when you posted on fb.
Good luck to whatever path you chose but driving it knowing it was wobbling wasn’t smart.
