Hello
I am having trouble with my crankcase vent it is making an awfull mess of the underside of my cruiser( BJ42) I would like to make a catch can. I was wondering if some of you have done this and if you coulds post some pictures.
Thanx

Is oil leaking out of the pipe or is the gasket on the rocker cover leaking? Those rocker cover gaskets often leak.

Its comin out of the pipe its a brand new motor so Ive been making sure to watch all the gaskets and they are all dry.

I've always had a few drops from the pipe, but no large amount of oil. That pipe is the crankcase ventilation. I read somewhere about some fancy filter and oil drainback but that seems like a lot of work for little benefit.

I've read in a post in here somewhere about running it up to the intake. then it just gets burned up. instead of going onto the turning ujoint. and spraying everwhere. don't know if the intake suction would cause any problems for a venting action.

Ive seen a mist at times come out of mine.

Is that link are the thread your are talking about... https://forum.ih8mud.com/showthread.php?t=23899

that was my thread and I erase the picture... but the information still good

Bye

I might do that, cut it off short and run up to the intake(post filter)

David are you running that now? if so any drawback?? any problems.

In a B or 3B engine with turbo and intercooler where should i connect the crankcase vent? pre turbo, after the turbo or after the intercooler?

No...

I ask this because some little smoke was going out from my BJ60 engine. I don't use it any more... it's for sale...

But now, my BJ70 don't make any smoke by this pipe... so I cancel the project !

But in the furur... if I see the same smoke going out from my BJ70, I will try to make it.

Hope it's not tomorow :)

On another post (maybe it's the one David cites) somebody said they run a tube from the end of the breather tube into the frame rail for a little extra rust prevention.

wayne here again, stealing access from Sheldon
i want you to think this through, where do you think you should run the CV tube?
if you run it after the turbo then you will be aplying 8-13 lbs of pressure exerted by the turbo into crankcase thus PRESSURIZING the crankcase. run the CV vent to the pre turbo side adn the turbo will attomize the oil and discarge it out the exhaust after it has had a chane to burn much of it in the combustion process....
cheers

the frame rail idea sounds decent. too bad I am past the first rust stage!!!

No no no....

Acid oil...

I ran the BB tube into the framerail on my BJ42. Frame had been dipped, epoxy primed and endura painted. All seams had been body caulking sealed after priming. The acidy oil caused the caulking to swell.

Oil from the vapour will build up, and drip out any drain holes as well.

Best would be to route it into the intake air, post filter, and if you have a turbo...pre turbo.

3B Crankcase vent

This is how i made the crankcase vent for the 3B engine... So far so good, and NO oil in the turbo, at least for now!

that looks very nice and clean I might have to do a similar thing there. Hey can you tell me about that intercooler?

Just harbouring a guess, but the end tank looks like the intercooler out of my brother's 7M-GTE supra (except mounted vertically rather than horizontally).

Intercooler

The intercoler is from a Mitsubishi Pajero DID (Pajero in Portugal, but in some countries they have the name of Montero or Shogun).
I had to cut the aluminium connections for the rubber hoses and turn them so they are pointed to the places i wanted and get it welded again. in order to fit the intercooler and oil cooler in front of the water cooler, i've moved the water cooler almost 10cm to the rear and a little to the right (it had to be moved to the right in order to install a 70 series power steering, for me the best power steering application for a 40series using toyota parts).

Where are you batteries? Did you take the fan shroud right out or just cut it?
