As we have seen, people create adds on Craigslist that are sometimes difficult to find. I usually include several keywords to make my adds pop up. For instance if you were looking for Landcruiser parts in Spokane and you did not add a space in between "Land" & "cruiser" or try FJ40 you would not see this new add for a '78 getting parted out. 1978 Land Cruiser FJ40 (clean title in hand) FJ45 FJ60 FJ55 Toyota - $100
I created this thread to open up a little more communication and perhaps save some postage and driving time.
Did Crusin ever find that 4-speed he was looking for?

'68 FJ

I've made a few friends taking my cruiser to local car shows. I called one up this morning and went and looked in his garage. Along with several other classics cars was a 68 FJ. I crawled around for a spell admiring the stock dash panel knobs and generally rust free interior. It had stayed in this oversized garage for the last 15 years or so (tabs were 1990 I think). Engine was missing valve cover. The frame was very solid and had a real dry surface rust. The b pillar area and rear quarter panels were original and rust free. I would have liked to take it outside in the sun as it was rather dark in the corner of the garage. I took a few pics with cell. Sounds like he wanted to concentrate on a 51 Chev this summer and would be willing to sell. If he asked more than $2,000 I'd be surprised. If you're interested let me know and I can arrange something.
Mental notes:
  • heavy aftermarket front bumber (tacky)
  • rag top scrap (good frame)
  • there were some extra parts in back (carb)
  • needs carb, air filter housing, valve cover installed:wrench:
  • seats were stock with tears
  • cracked windshield
  • bunch of spare tires/wheels
  • no battery
  • black
  • had both rear seats

FYI: not on craigslist but, budget truck wrecking in Auburn, WA has an 80 series with factory lockers under it...in case someone is looking. the interior is picked through pretty good, but the drivetrain is all there.
