coyote stalking girl frind and dog!!

The GF and the dog where walking this morning just before sunrise and she herd a noise. It was a coyote! It had crept up with in 4' of my dog, and is she said it was of a good size. She also said she yelled and it took it time backing off. My dog only weighs 15lb and is in heat.
I am going to make her take the sling staff as a weapon. It has a 1lb brass counter weight and is 4' long. I should get her some pepper spray.

Coyotes are usually not that aggressive, but Coydogs have lost their natural timid nature. They often steal the ankle biters from the yards around here, usually right at sunrise as the owner is letting snookums out to potty. One person I know had their dog yanked through a field type fence. Decapitated the dog.

I watched a coyote in San Clemente walk right down the sidewalk without any concern for cars / people.

That problem isn't going away IMO.

In theses parts they will take them while on a walk right off the leash.
We used to see them chasing cats threw the court yard but that was some time ago.
I have chased them at 4:00 pm down the street in traffic. they are out of control.

I saw a fox cleaning itself on the bikepath this summer. I pulled over, off the edge of the road, looked down at it. It looked up and went back to cleaning itself. This is near my house, lots of woods with subdivisions. I get nervous when they're too comfortable around people.

I would NOT recommend Bear Spray, just regular pepper spray is fine. Bear Spray will Fxxx your GF and your dog up along with the Coyote if it gets sprayed into the wind.
