I'm looking for the proper thread lube to reinstall the sensor on the head that is made of plastic (It's on the left side and has the twin tubes off it). So, it will be aluminum to plastic threads. I know some/most antisieze and thread lubes containing petroleum, which will attack plastic - anyone know of one designed for plastic or another substance I might use? This sensor was not screwed all the way in from the factory so when I reinstall I am going to want a lube to properly reseat it. I have O ring lube around, as well as dielectric grease - both of which are for rubber but I don't know if the heat of the head will turn these into something nasty.
Also, has anyone had luck simply removing and cleaning an oxygen sensor? Other sensors of this type I'm familiar with simply get a layer of crud on them that inhibits their highly sensitive sensing. While the truck's sitting I thought I might clean them if anyone else has done it and successfully rejuvinated theirs after throwing a code (I have no current issues).
Has anyone ever pulled their front door key tumblers for cleaning? Mine are getting grundgy and liquid graphite isn't helping anymore.
