Couple more dual battery question, then I will shut up...

For grounding my battery setup, I found a very nice set of vacant threaded holes about 7" or 8" down from the oil fill on the head. They are conveniently on the PS where my new battery is.
I know, the main battery is grounded further down on the block, but is there any problem with grounding higher up on the head?
What are these holes for, any ideas? (no pic, sorry, no camera right now.) The holes are about 2" or 3" apart from each other.

Also, I spent quite a bit of time, running the new cables in very out-of-the-way places. I took the time to cover all cable with loom protector but a couple of posts have made me worry a bit about chaffing and perhaps a short. Should the loom be enough with proper zip-tie securing here and there?

Man, this friggin deal is taking a lot longer than I thought. Mostly me standing around scratching my melon... Thanks for help.

There are a couple of threaded holes in the block itself towards the front on the passenger side. Clean them out with a tap before bolting up, as they will likely be a bit rusty.

IMHO it would be better (maybe only theoretically) to ground to the block instead of the head, the largest current load is the starter and it grounds to the block, the HG and head blots may carry this current from the head to the block without any problems but I would just feel better not placing the head into this circuit when there are alternatives.

Here is a pic of the threaded hole often used on the block on the passenger side.

Yes, I found that one and cleaned it up, found the proper bolt in the old spare pile and she worked like a champ.

Dual battery setup is complete.

Very clean and simple, I like it.

Thanks for the helpful information everyone.
