MetalTech had these on display this past summer at the FJ Cruiser Summit II in Ouray CO. They looked to be well built and an easy enough design to be a relatively easy swap back and forth. Well, they had their first run completed and somehow got in on it. They arrived yesterday and couldn't help myself to throw them on this morning. Sure was fun running around town today and I just hope the weather holds long enough so I can run them at URE for the Dec 6-7th event.

Really easy install, just snap off a couple pieces of plastic to get access to the connectors for the door. Four bolts for the hinges, one for limit "strap" and 2 "torx" screws for the door latch on each side and the stock doors are off. Once I installed all the latch hardware to the tube doors, just bolt up the hinge bolts, screw a striker into one of the holes from the vacant door latch and all is done. Even the alarm still works, just can't lock them.

Enough words, time for the pics...

WOW! That is awesome.

Thanks guys. Not like driving a FJ-40 with the top and doors off but as close as I think I can get an FJC to feel like it. Can't wait to "see" what its like to get it off-road and how much better the visibility will be. At least, thats my story and I'm sticking to it...

Very cool! That'd be fun to drive around in weather like we're having right now.

Don't let it blow your skirt up! ; )

I can't wait to see those in person. I've been on Demello and MetalTech's lists praying somebody would call me forever. Congrats man.

I love Jason's stuff and planned on waiting until he got something built up. However, the last time I did that, I waited over a year for my rear bumper. Well worth the wait on the bumper but for a tube door, didn't see that there could be that many advantages/disadvantages over each other.

Which URE run are you planning on going to, Nov 22-23 with the SMC'ers or Dec 6-7 with ONSC? I can only due Nov 22 but still have both days clear for the 6-7th, just don't know if I'll be able to keep them on that long with the weather turning a bit nippy...

you sir....are insane. I love it. Quickly becoming one of my favorite FJ's. Awesome build!!!

That's just sick.
I love them.
I hope the weather will be mild for Dec 6-7, I can't wait to see them. Visibility will indeed be awesome, especially out the right side.
I was up at URE this weekend, just got in, and the trails were super. They just get better, or is it badder? While I was trying to decide which line to work at Kodak a mini-truck or old 4runner broke a pitman arm in the left route and a Cherokee absolutely *exploded* a rear diff in the other. Probably saved me from doing something really stupid.
On the hill above the ledges at Daniel I got my first real dent in my sliders. They really soaked up a hard lick. I was sure I had hurt something but it was the inner rail of the RH slider. For some reason I keep getting into stuff. Got one on my RH door I didn't even know about. And further flattened my RH 1/4 panel. Time for tube doors oh yeah.

I'm hoping the weather is anywhere near as nice as it was last year.

Sounds like a day of fun and carnage at URE. I'm looking forward to seeing it, I've heard that is has become much more challenging in some sections. Should be a good time regardless...

I'm up in the air. Bud still hasn't finished my skids and I promised myself I wouldn't go breaking stuff again until I had them. That said...wheeling with a big group of FJC's would be awesome.

Sometimes, we have to force ourselves to be smart enough to protect our rigs. Let's hope Bud gets them done in time for the Nov 22-23rd stuff, if not, then maybe Dec 6-7th...

jerry, I'm so jealous...I've been dropping over the tube door ever since I saw a pic on Sol's SAS monster.

I'm totally ganking these when you're sleeping.

Yup, that is what did it for me also. Seeing how well he was able to see where he was going on the Rubicon made it clear what an advantage they are. Pretty simple to pull on or off but I've got the dogs sleeping in the truck just in case...
