Mark, let me know when you go to do this, as I would be happy to help. I've done wheel bearings and all sorts of stuff before, so I could be doing the radiator and such while you're doing other items.

Got a day off today, did the Silicone PHH replacement kit, new thermostat, flushed the system and added new OEM Red. Small accomplishment but good to know the PHH is outta the way.
Also went up to Memfrica and ordered an ARB front bumper. Metal Tech sliders already ordered.
Y'all let me know when you start on Mark's work, I'll throw in whatever small help I can give. Especially in an air conditioned garage (vs my "garage," which was covered in bermuda grass....).

Yep. Piece of cake with all these hands on deck. Goal tonight after I left was to get the rear 3rd stabbed and let the RTV cure overnight.
HD Tie Rod and Drag Link come in tomorrow and it is done.
I think there was some head scratching going on over the rear ebrake pads, but Leonard was on it when I left.

There's two types of e-brakes for the 80 FF rear axles. The earlier FF and the later. Someone once had issues with that, like maybe the wrong shoes. Not sure of the differences though.
It was not a parts issues it was an issue of a bunch of guys tat grew up in the rear disc brake generation. Parts seemed right, we were just not looking forward to tearing into the unknown.

It's not fun when you're in a 69 and it's starts raining.

CottonLand been working overtime on Bessie. Got home about midnight. Front and rear diffs in. E brakes done. Front hubs and brakes done and one side rear hub done.
No Amsoil 80/90 in diffs yet.
Like Grog says, tie rod and drag link here today. We figure we got another night left and then to the streets for some testing and then on to Moab.
Big thanks for JT, Nolen, Leonard and Jrob for getting Bessie to this point and thanks to Pat for getting the rear diff to us last night.
Issues at this point. Couldn't get the 100 pads to go in the front brakes.
We didn't get the small outer grease seal for the rear axle. Jrob had a couple, 089-80b-oem/088 and we think they are the same. Waiting on confirmation.

Did you remove the squeal shim? it's that tight of a fit. And the calipers have to be pressed ALL the way in...

Had a lot of life left on the 80 pads so we just put them back in. Sqeal shim on the 100 pads that chris had were very thin anyway. Would have still dragged on rotor.

Yeah, the shim is small, but how big was the gap you were fussing with? I bet it was small too? trust, that shim has to be removed.
That shim was plastic. Was that what was supposed to be removed? Kinda glued on there.
