Are you shipping it home? I might JS out there and drive it back for you if that would help.

Nice offer Mike!
So sorry to hear about the troubles Bomar.

Here is the scoop. I had a coil go out about 40 miles away from Gallup NM. Limped it to Gallup got to O'Reilly s bit they had no tools so I bought a but driver set to replace the coil and then drove to auto zone to buy a tool set to take spark plug out to replace in the 2 miles trip the access gas in #5 cyl had melted the spark plug and new coil. So half the treads are not in block. Hoping no valve issues. American Toyota looked at it but to go any further would be removing the head.....

So after talking to the CEO of Georgle and I called a machine shop to see if they can put a nutcert with the head still on so they have special made tooling for this...I feel good about them fixing the problem and at about a 1/10th of the cost of a new head installed it is worth a shot. I should get an update tomorrow but we needed to get back to work instead of hoping for the best so we punted and will regroup.

Man, I know we ALL hate that problem interrupted an otherwise cool trek! Hopefully, they'll be able to get you back in business without having to remove the head.

I'm still not entirely sure I understand what exactly caused the plug and coil to melt, so is there a takeaway lesson for those of us who have 100s and who have coils periodically go quiet?

Since this is supposed to be a "picture" thread .......

Best day of my life. 5 years ago. :)
