too bad. wouldn't even work 2 on the side if I were to rework the carrier then.

and also, I do remember that whereas my Nato cans are a somewhat loose fit in the carrier when cold, when hot they do inflate a bit and were hard to remove, so there's that factor too, can't be too tight.

I give my nato cans "the foot" on my Inti rack. They fit a bit tight.

I ended up grabbing 3 metal jerry cans from Harbor Freight ($39.99 each minus $8 off one with a 20% off one item coupon that they always have behind the register) that were the standard 6.5" width, and they fit great.
I have 2 and used them last fall. They leaked a little bit and when I checked the website, the comments were positive except for the spout. They also stated the spout was an odd size and couldn't be replaced with a better aftermarket spout. What was your experience?

Sorry OP, not a total highjack, just a slight deviation but still on gas can topic.

Can't speak to them much yet...just grabbed them last night. But the metal 5 gallon HF can screw top comes with both a separate cap/seal/blank, and the nozzle has its own cap. With both on it doesn't seat right. You have to either use the spare blank without the nozzle stored inside, or store it with the nozzle in the can and don't use the extra blank provided. I can see people not knowing better and trying to screw the lid on with both inside, the way it comes from the store, therefore causing leaks.
