Hello all!

I picked up my first 100 series a couple months ago & its been nothing but fun. I have tinkered with it a bit so far & plan on making a build / documentation thread soon!

I was browsing the KING OEM Performance series & I'm assuming I should be going with the 98-02 shocks because the ones listed for my 07' are coilovers and are listed under 120 series.

My rig now has 157k & the AHC system moves just about 12 lines of fluid from low to high. After browsing the sold listings on ebay for all the AHC components, it looks like I can make a decent chunk toward a suspension overhaul if I sold everything now as good working condition instead of waiting for components to fail.

Thanks all!

Decent chunk, as in like $300-400? I doubt you will get more than that for 157k. King shocks will set you about $1600 for all 4 corners. No, there are no coilovers on the 100 series. The 120 is the GX470.

Might want to check out Radflo. Their customer service on heap and heaps better than what King has for street trucks (basically non-existent).

Are you sure you want to get rid of AHC?

I definitely think more than that after going through all of the sold listings for AHC components. The AHC pump & res just sold for 300 alone a month ago used. When you factor the pump/res, all 4 damping force accumulators, height accumulator, height sensors, ecu, height/damping switch ect ect I feel like can easily get at least the front set of kings for free.

I poked around Radflo a bit & didnt see anything on their site. When I'm off the clock I'm going to dive in a little deeper.

I am not 100% yet, I like it a lot so far but would prefer to weigh all my options before going one way or another. With it working this well right now, its a bit unlikely its going to leave me stranded so I'll probably end up testing it every other oil change to monitor the status.

Ive been researching (dreaming really) King 2.5 remote reservoirs with compression adjusters ( Smoothie Shocks).

Land Cruiser 1002.5 Shocks w/ Comp. Adj.2.5 Shocks w/ Comp. Adj.25001-259A25001-258A

Your looking at $2700 +/- for custom tuned with remote res's with comp adjusters on all 4 corners. IMO which ever you buy- Radflo - King- Icon etc you should buy from a reputable King authorized dealer who knows how to tune for a 100 series suspension, and have them custom valved for your build, weight and intended use, otherwise you're wasting your money should just buy a standard offroad shock. Research the cost and turnaround time to rebuild before you buy since your prob going to send your shocks back to the guys who initially valved your shocks.

I have no affiliation with either; haven't done any due diligence on reputation; just noticed they offer custom tuned king suspension for 100 series.

I'm right there with you on the authorized dealer part, Im actually within ~20 min of king themselves in Garden Grove so it would be cool to do the purchasing & tuning with them directly. As you mentioned, I would prefer to get this done the first time with the weight of at least the front and rear bumpers but I do have another car to use should there be excessive downtime.

I guess now the choice is wait the 8-12 week turn around for dissent bumpers, then weigh the AHC down with the possibility of not being able to sell all of the components in good working condition while I save for the suspension or get the off the shelf kings, good torsion bars and rear springs only to revalve and tune the shocks once I've saved up for the bumpers.

I actually left everything as-is & decided to run the AHC until its done for.

I was going to give the KING part numbers above a shot but after pricing everything out to completely redo all the suspension, I felt like I would have more fun big turboing my Evo 9 so I ended up going that route. No regrets lol.

Hmmm Let me think... suspension vs turbos...

Thats like when the waitress asks my son if he wants whipped cream on his belgian waffle. Does anyone ever say no to whipped cream?!

Thanks for responding - i hope the turbo project turned out how you wanted.

ill keep you posted if i decide to but the kings.
