I saw a post on Facebook with a picture from Coppinger Cove rd with gate posts installed. It implied that the road/access would be closed. Can anyone verify? While I don’t seem to get out on the trails as much as I’d like anymore, I always chose the cove when I do. It would terrible to drive from the north end and discover that you can’t out the south end.

Here is the info I saw for reference:

Talked to @radioridge and it seems that a new timber company has purchased a few large tracts on the south end of the cove. He said it's not the first time and likely won't be the last. As Andy said, time will tell if it sticks. But if they are running logging equipment in and out, then gates are probably not a terrible thing. Once they're done nobody will care again.

Interesting. Thanks @jynx and @radioridge. If and when I get my act together and the weekend rain stops, it seems prudent to start in from the south side and change plans if gated. Would be great to assemble a group in the coming weeks if there is interest from anyone.

Posting this back up again. I missed the new years ride. I’d like to explore this area but always see posts about to go with someone who has been before. Let me know if anyone is headed out there sometime in the next few weeks or months I’d like to tag along and wouldn’t mind paying a guide fee or a little gas money if we could work it out. Thanks,
Jason

Coalmont OHv park at the north end is open 24/7. As I understand the plans for the other end in the further is they are going to close the coppinger cove road access and bring people in from Pryor Ridge , charge a daily use fee and limit the number of vehicles per day. As of today it’s all still open. Of note the trail from the end of Coppinger Rd to the church is an unmaintained county road with at least one cemetery accessed by it, not sure how they are going to deal with this but Pace has a lot of money to spend on lawyers.
