Hello, new guy here.

So, I've been doing some reading on here and have learned quite a bit. I bought a 97' LX 450 with 109.000 on the clock and in great shape. My issue is that I went and had the coolant changed by a shop close to my house.......when I got home I looked and it was kind of a red and green coolant??? Should it not be all red??? what gives?? seems to me a power flush should have removed all the green coolant that was in there????

Time to read the FAQ section. Huge threads and explanations on this issue.

If it's red and green they didn't flush it thoroughly. Probably didn't flush the heater core and rear heater or didn't wait long enough for the t-stat to open. Mixing the red and green can cause you problems. You should return to the mechanic and show him the red/green combo so he can do it properly.

Welcome If I were you, I will flush it again to ensure that the mixture of green and red coolant is no longer in the engine and radiator. Then fill it again with distilled water and run it for few minutes, drain and flush, then refill with a 50/50 mixture of distilled water and Toyota red coolant. A mixture of red and green coolant is bad for your engine.

it is usually hard to get all of one color coolant out of a system with just one flush. i used to do them for a living and never had very good luck(mostly on GM dexcool). Most of the coolants made today are universal(use Prestone at work) so you can mix it with anything.

update

So, I took it back and had them Power Flush and fill it gain. The Tech said that the first time he did it, he did not know there was a rear heater in it!!?? Anyway, nice and red now...good for a while.
