So as I'm walking back to my truck after an appointment this morning I see a big puddle of coolant directly under where the engine/transmission meet. I'd been loosing coolant lately (full to low in 1 week in reservoir) and was tying to track down where - and I think it must be the PHH hose. Can anyone confirm this is where it would puddle - rad. was still full (overflow empty) so I filled the overflow and drove home slowly watching my gauge. I'm afraid to drive it until I can verify and fix - didn't have time to pull the tire/guard to inspect.

Thanks -

Tucker

Tucker, if it's the PHH the leak should be coming from the back left of the motor (if you are sitting in the drivers seat facing forward). Worst part is that when mine blew, it blew, so i couldn't tell exactly where it was until i hooked a pressure gauge to the radiator and could make it trickle as opposed to burst.

could also be from rear heater lines

Best way to see it is to slide under the left rocker panel on your back, head toward front of car. Use a penlight with beam narrowed and keep your head fairly close against the tire as you slide forward slowly. Just as your eyes break the line of the forward end of the starter you'll be very close to the line of sight required to spot the rascal. The silver pipe coming down from near the rearmost intake manifold runner terminates into it, of course.

the pipes that feed the rear heater got rusty/crusty and developed a leak on my '94.

How bad is the fix on these puppies?

I was looking around under the truck on the weekend and noticed a number of pipes with some major decay - they look like a major PITA to fix - exhaust off, heat shields, etc.

Cheers, Hugh
