I pulled into work and see coolant dripping from the drivers side transmission area. Inlooked under the hood and it doesn’t look like it is coming from fwd of the firewall unless it is really low. I don’t think it is the pesky heater hose. Is everything aft of the firewall rear heater? I can’t climb under in these clothes but I plan on leaving work early and just wondered if anyone else has had a similar issue.

A pin hole leak in any hose will spray coolant making it appear to come from other areas. Don’t discount the PHH. If you can’t find the leak use a pressure tester.

time to do a rear-heater delete?

I have the truck outside now cooling down before I start working under it. I looked at the phh and it looks fine. I am using red (toyota) coolant so it should make detection easier.
Are there return lines for the rear heater on the (LH US) drivers side, other than the one behind the controller? I know some of the lines are behind the cats on the passenger side but I am not sure on the drivers side.

The rear heater hoses on my '93 are all on the US passenger side, four of them, IIRC. As stated previously, a pinhole can spray coolant and make it drip at a different location. I'd recommend either running the truck to get it leaking, or pressurize the system with an air compressor or similar to find the source. Sometimes the cause can be a long way from the effect. Good luck.

It is the rear heater hoses. In the process of bypassing now.
