So i've had a small coolant leak the past few weeks after getting back to driving the old FJ62. I finally got around to removing the radiator skid plate to find this...Sorry guys if this seems like a  question but what hose is that? Also, if it's simply the hose that needs replacing, is it easy to replace (can i get the part at a local autoparts store or is it a OEM specific part) ? I figure i may just need to drain the radiator and swap the hose? Sound right? Or, does it look bad enough where i may need to replace the radiator? Can you guys help me out? :)

I do believe that is your ATF cooler line. That would be leaking ATF rather than coolant (although I guess it could leak coolant around the base of the fitting....).

I figured that connection had to be the culprit of my coolant leak but if it's my ATF cooler line, i guess it may not? I'm definitely leaking coolant (small puddle after driving). Should i take a closer look to see if it's the radiator hoses?

Do i need to remove my whole radiator? what are they going to fix and sorry if this is a dumb question, what does "rod it" mean?

also do the fan shroud mod while the radiator is out. I add bars leaks to my coolant on my saab.

You don't necessarily have to remove the radiator to fix that ATF leak, providing the only problem is the fitting. Looks like the inlet is rusty though, so then again you may have to remove it. If you additionally have a coolant leak, better find out where it's coming from. If you've got a puddle, that's a major leak. Better check it out while running and immediately afterwards.

if its leaking around where cooler line comes out of the radiator, then the joint probably just needs to be soldered again(just a guess). most shops will pull it out for you. but it will cheaper to do it yourself(you'll learn new things about your cruiser).

Rodding the radiator is when they take the tanks off of the radiator(top&bottom) and push rods through it to clean out all the tubes clearing the crud(if its a old rad. it will have a lot of build up).

first i would fill it, drive it until its at normal operating temps. then shut it down, crawl underneath and find out for sure thats your leak.

I had a persistent leak on my 62... I just ended up replacing it with a used radiator, mine had just rotted out (I have 174K). Costed me about 200 bucks. I would get a quote first to get it fixed, it may just be easier to find a used one and replace it (check the parting out pages).

if your not sure where the leak is.... I might suggest just paying a shop to pressure check the coolant system. They will add pressure and find leaks. Why guess if yor not sure.
