It looked as though there were 2 used, one on each side. This would solve the need for lockers.
I was wondering about the camels also. Were they just for illustration of the desert, or did they tie off to them? If there's nothing else out there and no 2nd vehicle (bad idea for desert travel) then I guess it would be an option but will a camel do that??

I would doubt the camels aided in the extraction. But I'm no camel expert.
It seemed to me like the strap was staked in the ground.

A lot of military vehicles came with something like that as an "option." I read some where in a military recovery manual about how they were to be used on the 2 1/2 ton, but it was long ago.
