I was moving kids yesterday and I took a shortcut from Hwy43 to Old Canton Rd south of Yandell. The road was just worked and the dust must have been super thick when the rain hit.

I really got to see what Quattro is all about yesterday. It was so much fun. Berkley was fired up. We drifted and slid for 5 miles.

My car is trashed. Worth it.
 
I loaded it on one of our work tablets (Acer Iconia W700) and seems OK so far. Had an issue that killed the WiFi adapter upon initial install and had to do a bit of research to fix it. It may or may not have killed my bluetooth keyboard connectivity too...still investigating.
 
my work machine is updating right now, so mud break on the iPad. On the tonka article up there, it looks like we can finally ditch "overlanding" as passé in favor of the new, equally-gay nomenclature, VDA - vehicle dependent adventuring :).

For what it's worth, those ladders on the rear quarter panels might make better practical sense and possibly look cool on the right roof-rack-equipped, espresso-powered VDA vehicle.

Apparently, the deer that graze the sides of the road around here are nothing compared to what LA has to offer. Saw this between Monroe and Vicksburg. I was wondering what activates the flashing light; bears are pretty sharp, perhaps there's a paw push button in the grass nearby...
 
There are several of those on I20 where it borders the Tensas refuge.

I have some land in that area as well, and bears are becoming a real nuisance, almost to the point of being dangerous. When I was a kid bears were unheard of in that area. Never even saw sign, much less one in the wild. Now it's guaranteed that you see one on our place. Every single time I go for an overnight trip I see a bear. And they are less and less intimidated by humans. So much so that I won't step foot outside the camp without a sidearm. Last year a buddy and I had to stay in a box stand for 2 hours after dark because a mother and two cubs were bedded down under us. I didn't want to risk getting between them if we got down.

We are lobbying the DWF in LA for a landowners hunting permit but so far have had no success.
 
VDA sounds like something they warn you about in Sex ed class....

Yep, less and less intimidated - it's been creeping up for years, citing a 2004 bit of evidence here - I think Hana Barbera is at the bottom of it myself
 
Expanding my options, and thought I'd give this a shot. I'm in search of a career and have had a difficult time finding the opportunity to productively build on this. I do have a job, but my options there are limited. I recently earned a bachelor's degree from ole miss, but remain a state fan (so I should appeal to most in this section). I also have industrial production experience and construction safety compliance experience. If anyone has any tips, advice, or words of wisdom, it would be appreciated. Thanks guys.
