Cool Box vs No Cool Box

I was checking out an LX570 yesterday to purchase. It had the cool box option which seems to eliminate any kind of organized storage in the center console. I found this quite annoying.

Do the trucks without the cool box have better center console storage (eg: multiple levels, trays, coin storage, etc)?

Top lid of the cool box has small storage for cell phone/remote/etc and you could also use cool box as a storage as long as it is powered off. It is standard in LC and option in LX. It will be tough to find one without it.

I ordered my 2010 LX without the cool box for this reason. Without it I have a two-tier cargo area. Top tier easily holds wallet, cell, sunglasses and more. Below that holds extra headphones and 10+ DVDs for the kids. Gene

Atwalz: So to confirm, the trucks with cool box still have a small storage compartment? Is it under the sliding armrest?

Arm rest on LC has no slide feature.

I strongly not recommend you not buying this car - what you need is a ladies purse for coins, phone etc. You can pack that cooler with any garbage that you need , just keep it off or give your garbage some chills.

lots of people creeping on the coolbox lately, it's just a center console, that can get really cold if ya want it too....

lol it's the same guys calling the 200 a highlander. they don't own it, would actually love it, so trick themselves to diminish its value to make it hurt less.

Actually, I do own an LX with cool box now and l would have preferred one without it. Maybe I will get to like it but it seems "practical" small item storage is very limited. Obviously the LX is amazing in every other way. It's just a small inconvenience. If the new LX had the center console of my Land Cruiser it would be even more perfect.

I'm digging the cold box. Thought it was silly first but it's been coming in handy.

It's not at the top of my to do list, but I am going to look into swapping out the cool box for more storage. I test drove a LX570 before finding my 200, I liked the setup without the cool box. My hope is that the center console is the same with and without, and it would be a relatively simple swap of parts. I'm sure finding used parts would be difficult considering the age of the vehicles, and I'm also sure Mr. T will be fond of the plastic bits, i.e. $$$.

With two kids, quite a bit. Options are available so people can choose what features best suit their needs. Nothing wrong or right about any of it, just preference and choice.
