Hey folks!

This weekend is a really fun trip up to the Cooke City area! Saturday will be a fun day exploring Daisy Pass and Lulu Pass. This will be a day for all vehicles. Sunday will be a little tougher going out to Goose Lake, but still doable for stock vehicles with some spotting. Please post up below if you plan on coming!

I'd be allllllllllllllllllllll for it!!!! because my last name is Cook! :D ... but you know, I'm not there in MT :( ... job hunting continues...

Sounds good! Is Saturday only an option?

Saturday only is fine. We will meet in Cooke City at 9 am on Saturday morning. Cooke City is small so just look for the cruisers! I usually park on the west side of town by the chamber of commerce building. I might drive up Friday night, but I won't know until Friday am.

I'll be going through the park. It's a long haul going through Red Lodge.

Yup. I have a park pass. I think its $25 or $30 for a 7 day pass or you can buy a year pass. Lots of variables going through the park though. Tourists, bison, tourists getting tossed by bison...

any suggestions for camping along the way to get there? someplace close, not too far off the road, and away from the prius crowd

Same way your going. if its 9 pm and i have to buy a park pass is there going to be somewhere open will i be able to get through?

The gates are always open, but late at night there is no one there if I recall correctly. You wont be able to camp anywhere in the park. Just past Cooke City are some established campgrounds. You can also turn off at Daisy Pass or Lulu Pass and camp there.

I'd like to go if there is still room. Might camp Friday, for sure Saturday. FYI you must have a "hard sided" (no tents) to camp at the Soda Butte, and Colter camp grounds around Cooke city. But crazy horse think it's called further down the road you don't. Like TC said Lots of primitive stuff outside of town anyways.
