I've been mulling over how to get an audio Aux input into these integrated Nav systems. If your CD changer is like mine, it's dead.

So I wonder: is it possible to wire an aux input into the existing CD changer harness? At least two of those pins on the receptacle are for audio. I imagine the biggest issue would be tricking the ECU into thinking the proposed aux port is actually the CD changer. What would be really cool is if you could set it up so the ECU thinks a CD is present every time you plug in something into the aux port. Give all the connections on the harness, I'm sure the firmware in the Nav system would likely reject any of this, but it makes you wonder.

Follow up to that, if the CD changer input doesn't suffice, I wonder if you could intercept the signal coming from the tape deck and convert that to an aux input. Maybe leave a dummy tape in the deck...

Just some thoughts, wonder what you all have thought of or tried.

Whoa whoa whoa, are you saying I’m overthinking this (again)? Didn’t realize it could be so simple. This is awesome.

I’m assuming with this plugged in you’d simply hit the CD button on the factory radio and it would engage this interface?

You bet and if your feeling really bold you can pull that old CD changer out and replace it with a build from @BenCC to add more storage space.

Good call on the storage space, I think that's a no-brainer. My ambitious 17 yr old son already tore the console apart and pulled the cd changer out. He actually took changer apart trying to fix that. Found some coins and stuff in there but it threw errors again once installed. He also replaced the digitizer on the screen so that's working again. Your suggestion for this interface adapter is awesome and could just be the ticket. We were discussing different ways to get aux audio into the factory system.

Now, we gotta tackle the rattling subwoofer...

The rattling subwoofer is a pain. I got lucky and my foam was only slightly torn so I was able to re glue it.

If it blown there really isn't a good direct fit replacement.

At least your aux needs are solved for now

I really like my VAIS tech bluetooth adapter just for the simple fact it presses the splash screen warning button for me on start up each time lol It works like a charm. Kind of pricey, but their customer service and warranty have also been excellent. Something went out in the box when I jumped it to swap batteries and I shipped it to Colorado and it was repaired and replaced without question and upgraded at the same time.

Just a Bump for the VAIS SLP 30 pin IPod/iPhone interface. Mine came with the vehicle when purchased. Excellent sound quality. Night and day better than a FM transmitter or cassette tape adapter.
Just added this Bluetooth receiver.

Works without any glitches with my phone through Bluetooth. Will likely add a CarPlay screen to the dash and work around the factory nav.
