Can someone please tell me the function of this device? it is located above the radio in a 1999 LX470.

It is a body control module. I know for a fact it controls the rear wipers and a host of other items in the vehicle!

Do you know whether or not it has anything to do with the security system and the ability to lock and unlock vehicle with the key fob? when I press the lock button on my key fob the red light will light up, the vehicle will chirp like it’s going to lock/unlock the doors but nothing happens. Now when I lock the truck with the driver side lock button upon return I use the key to unlock the alarm goes off until I put the key in the ignition and start the vehicle. Thoughts?

Issue is likely the drivers side door lock actuator.

I have a similar problem. I have a 2000 lx and I have no problem locking my car and the chirp will go off when locking or unlocking with the fob. Downside is the alarm will randomly go off. No rhyme or reason to it. Might go off 5 minutes after you lock it or 5 hours you never know. I’ve been told it had to do with a faulty BCM and that you could take it off and clean it with electrical clean and solve the problem.

I was told it’s in passenger kick panel but haven’t found it. Where was yours located?

Yes body ecu controls power door locks, but could be lock relay, or any other number of related items. Do you have a FSM for testing procedures?

I ordered a new controller box and replaced my old one. Now none of my windows will roll down and my sunroof won’t open. I put the old one back in and same thing. So now I have 2 controller boxes and can’t rolls windows down or control sunroof with either. Any suggestions?

Your missing something. They are not a programmed module, they are plug and play. Did the numbers match on both modules? If both modules are not working you have problems with the wiring, you popped a fuse or a relay is wonky.
