Just like the title says. I have been searching and searching. Maybe there is need for a thread for people to post WHAT and WHERE they sourced their replacement bushings for the steering rack. Sounds like a common enough problem to have a decent place to find ALL the info...please post away! Maybe places for the whole rack assembly? Maybe a consolidated place for how-to write ups. Could this be the thread to do this in please?

I'll add that I haven't got one from there and the one on my truck is orginal but I have got stuff from Rock Auto, and they look like they also have the cheapest complete assembly. But they are remanufactured...wonder if that's a problem...

I can't comment on longevity of the reman rack, from what I have read they do not last. I would spend the extra money and pick up a OEM rack from @beno.

X2 on the OEM rack from CDan or Beno.

I just ordered a bushing set for mine. Whiteline sells a set for the early style rack. I will post up info when it arrives or as soon as I am done running lines for my lockers.

Am I being dumb in thinking that $62 for a set of bushings is kinda ridiculous?

I had trouble with OBT, they didn't return my calls or fulfill my order. By the time I'd found another vendor, they called back, but it was too late. But I digress.

I won't knock any man for going with less expensive OEM parts, but I was feeling cocky and went with the Super Pro. So far, so good.

Whiteline added to my list of possibilites. I'm kind of afraid that replacing the bushings will be the last straw for the whole thing to crap out. The boots are showing signs of leakage right now. Does it make sense to think that replacing the bushings might firm it up enough to finish off whatever is happening inside the rack?

New bushings won't help stop the leak. Bushings may tighten up the steering but the leak will persist. I'd start saving for a rack and not worry about getting the poly bushings into the old rack, wait for the new one. Just my .02

Oh yeah, I know they won't fix any leaks, I just figured that it would speed up anything that is on the way to failing completely.

OK, a buddy at work just asked me if there is a cross reference to other vehicles that have the same rack and pinion assembly that I could go yank off in the junk yard.
