I thought I would share some photos of a job we did last Friday in the new shop. I have yet to finish moving in and folks I have been putting off for 1.5 years (during the build) are getting pushy haha.

The program (a type of solid works) did the math in unfolding a cone shape to be cut from a 10 ga sheet of hot rolled. The circle was kept in place for the rolling process by eight .150" tabs. The cone is 24" at base and 6" at the top with a hight of 18". Rolling it was a PITA due to the last portion wanted to pull straight.
I will need to fab a special cone adapter that maintains contact with the smaller radius as close to the rolls.

The CNC plasma table cut the entire program in less than four min. We used a 40 amp tip and cut 90 ipm.
Very happy with smoke/spark control with the water table and placement of machine.

Very cool to see!
Is the finished product a distillation column cap with the side-hole for overhead reflux?

Its actually the main body of a "chiminea". The larger diameter pieces on the plasma table will be the bottom cap. 6" 10 ga tubing will be welded to the top (small end) to divert the smoke. The whole thing will sit on a stand. I just did the burning and rolling, the customer will sell one to recoup some $$. FWIW, I like your guess on what it was.

that is a cute little plas table.
Thank you,
that cute table has cut 700 ipm. The hypertherm 1250 and 80Amp mechanical torch works plenty good for us.
I have owned this unit over ten years and never needed to cut any thing larger than a 4' x 8' sheet.

Update on the cone. This chiminea turned out nice and with the mild winter weather we have in the south west it provides decent heat while hanging out.
