I lost my 12 year old Alpha Male Beagle the first of June. Now my "Always Second in Command" 12 year old Alpha Male has Congenital Heart Disease.

We thought it was Valley Fever but the final teatters test came a negative. X-Ray shows his little heart is so big it is pushing on his esophagus making it hard for him to breath.

We should be able to control it with medication.

This is Not my year for hounds.

Sorry to hear about your pup.

Any optimism from the vet? I've always thought this was a people only thing..:frown:

Hope the medication helps, Dan.

Some dog breeds are prone to it as well.

Had 3 purebred dobers suffer from it, and learned from each one. Med's definately prolong quality of life: lst one suffered much too long cuz I didn't know how to interpret what I was observing.

and the great news is: they've discovered a gene that carries the DCM. more when I get the data.

meanwhile: enjoy yr beagle while he's with you, sorry to hear the sad news.

SNT is a good question. This little guy has been there 3 times. If the wife attnds, he will be there.

When he gets the least bit excited he gasps for breath. SNT may be a little over the top for him.

He is taking 5mg of Enalapril once a day and 3mg Levothyroxine twice a day and 50mg of Furosemide twice a day. He has a Dr.s appointment on monday for another test and medication adjustment, if needed.

Well Winslow had a kind of rough evening.

He passed away this morning surrounded by his family.

It took 20 minutes for his spirit to leave. He is now playing with Delta across the RainBow Bridge......

Sorry for your loss Dan.

Sorry to hear Dan..my condolances to you and the Mrs....

So sorry Dan: I'm glad I got to meet him and Delta.

:frown: At least you gave him every medical support available, and he was with his family when he left. :crybaby:
