If it has really turned into a 4+ trail, it has gotton a lot worse than the last time I was up there. The worst I have seen it I would give it a 3.5, and that was only due to 2 very short washed out sections just below the lower of the mine shafts. Actually, I think you were on that run John......

I haven't run the Loop with you. It was far more tame last year. I did a write up on it in a mag:

My Lexus should be done by your trip date. I'd like to come IF it's ready.

that update from joe chott makes me seem like a complete idiot, what am i thinking running it with open diffs ?? and i sure dont know about body damage, my buddy with the suburban drove it clean, must be an 80 thing.:flipoff2:

Huh...I ran it with *someone* from mud...I thought it was you. Guess not.

Let me know if you get your lexus ready....

I ran it with you about 1-1/2 years ago. I was open diffs on 33's and no armor. Got thru with no damage, just a brown stain in my chonies. I can see some of those switchbacks getting ugly after last summers rain.

Ya, I don't think Joe's account is accurate based on the guys I've talked to that recently have run it. I did hear that some of the washouts on the switchbacks are worse, but not impassable and since their rigs are wider than a stock 80 or 100 in terms of outside to outside tire.....84"+ I can't imagine it's that bad. Guess we'll find out next weekend. ;)

So Brian,
What time are we meeting next Saturday and where?

Sean

uh........:D

Actually, I think I am planning on leaving home at 7am. Puts me in Florence 9~ish. Not sure how many are coming up from Tucson....so I am shooting for the cabins ~10am. If the group is small and moves fast, maybe earlier. But not everyone likes to drive up Box as fast as I usually do...

I assume you would be coming in from Cottonwood rather than Price?

Ya, most likely from Cottonwood.

Any idea how many you've got coming and how everyone is set up? I don't mind running with medium built rigs if they're coming....just wondering what kind of work we're in for.

The only definetes are:
You (Sean)
Me (Goodtimes)
Mark S. in a stockish TJ (never been through the loop)
Erin in a stockish tacoma (has been through the loop)

Tentative are:
Kyle in his Scrambler (been through)
Jim in a TJ very similar to mine (never been through)
John Shotts in his lexus (been through)
Alvin (madbaggins) in his 80 (been through)

Did I miss anyone? Does anyone else want to go????

I've got 2 guys in Rubicons that would probably want to go.....not my place to invite them though.

I know Don with the FJCruiser would want to go to, but it looks like a big group at this point and it may take some work to get him through without damaging anything.

Sean

Sean, at this point, there are only 3 committed (Erin had to back out due to some front end problems). The weather looks good (62* and sunny, 10% chance of rain in Florence).

I don't have any problems with adding a couple more vehicles to the list. I figure it will be a full day anyway....as long as we get off the trail while it is still light, I'm happy (even if we don't...it's not like it will ruin the day or anything...).

I probably won't make it. I'm really feelin the crunch to get my house projects done and then get mine and Ross' rear bumpers together and other maintenance junk done before Cruise Moab. Just over 2 months left. I might head out for a 1/2 day saturday, like a quick Chiva run or something.

I am interested in running with you guys if you don't mind. I am in Queen Creek. I could meet up anytime on Saturday

Hey Brian,

I've wheeled with Don (DRdoor) a few times now. He's running an FJC with a 3.5" lift and the equivalent of about 33s. He's got A-trak and a rear locker as well as sliders.

I don't mind helping him through the trail at all if you don't mind him coming along.

Sean

Anyone that wants to run it is welcome to come along. Don, you're more than welcome to join us, as is Eban and whoever else. I am not a brand-specific kind of guy (which helps explain why a jeep guy is posting on mud)...I like wheeling with all of 'em, as long as they are ready for whatever trail we decide on (Martinez in this case). :)

You got a meet time/place? I'm dying to do something, and might be able to swing this. The thought of Martinez as a 4.5 is interesting.

Not sure we can come. My 6" lift parts are late due to bad weather. I might not have the thing ready by Saturday. BOOOO!
